At what point in the order/production process does your car receive it's VIN?

Once it starts production it should have a VIN but you can get a prod# much sooner...

your dealer should know both

My dealer's being lazy about it, claimed it didn't have a VIN even though it was in the middle of production. I do have the production number though.

AH... well the vin is printed in quite a few places so can't believe there is no VIN if they are already putting it together....

what do you want the VIN for anyway?

Hoping to track my car on the ship, isn't it required for that?

Why not call that BMW tracking number and choose the option to speak with someone. Maybe you can get them to give you the info?

ya you need the vin if you want to track it here https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...ckSearchResult using the vin as cargo id... but it's not very reliable

But you might just track the ship directly if you know the name at http://www.marinetraffic.com/ so you can see the boat route
