No it won't, the m4 is stated 425 hp and dynos at between 420-435...so the best you can hope for at the wheels, even understated, is 375hp
I think you were stating whp but M4 dynos somewhere around 420 at the wheels.

It pretty much will have 400 crank hp. The engine will be underrated just like all their turbo engines.

Good call on something more fun to drive. I would debate that though still since I highly doubt the m2 will be a better handling car than the m3/4, but that obviously won't translate into more fun to drive necessarily.

Something new I don't buy. How long could he have had the m4 for?

Time will tell, even though the M4 shed some pounds it is still a large car. I think some will argue that the M2 could be more fun to drive. A good friend of mine transitioned from an E92 335 to a 135 and loves the smaller size.

I'm sure GOLFRR will chime in, but he's known for changing cars every couple years. I think he had 4 E92 M3's

Unless this thing is loaded up with CF I can't see them charging more than $52k USD starting price.

I am however disturbed that the M2, even with overboost, will have less torque than the 1M.
My point is that i'm not sure that the price differential will warrant the performance differential. Also, the 1M was a very special car. i'm far from convinced that the M2 will be as special .. based on the info to date

I expect the DCT to be a 2900$ option. All the new M cars have it. It better not have the ZF8 (as good as that box is, it just doesn't belong in a proper sports car imo)

Hold your horses. Just yesterday he was pictured along side a Z06, Hamster and possibly Ben Collins. They won't use TopGear as the name of the show from now on, but it's impossible that they won't kick off their stuff quite soon I'd imagine.

In the last few years BMW has become extremely conservative on their HP numbers and most likely this car will have 365 whp (~415 crank HP) but you can't blame some people here expecting a bit more from the engine.

I'm sure the suspension and the driving dynamics will be terrific, after all everyone praises the M3 for it's handling and that has always been the hallmark of an M car. Needless to say however, BMW has been a bit behind the curve in the engine compartment recently
Again, I don't know if you are new to this or not, but we knew that this was going to happen! All the debate about the 135i vs 1M was bound to happen with the M235i vs M2. On paper, the 135i is very close to the 1M, but we all know it's not.

Let's put it this way, if the 1M didn't do anything for you, then the M2 will not either. The 1M is absolutely a cult car that we haven't seen from BMW since probably the Z4M. I'm absolutely thrilled that BMW decided to do a sequel.

From someone in your situation the M2 specs cannot look appealing.
Thats easy to answer. Before when I had all my M3s the only thing that was available that fit into what I was looking besides the M3 was the 1m. I drove the 1m and loved it however I was just not convinced it was better for "me" then the M3. It felt a little to small yes, so I just kept getting M3s. Fast forward and I picked up a M4. I am now in the same situation. The 2 series however I really like. I like the size and the styling more so then 1 series. For me its not all about power or luxury, and as long as it fits my golf clubs its something that pops up on my radar. The M2 has the potential of being a great car. Will it be faster then my M4 no, If I was about performance I would look into M6 but thats just part of the equation for me. I am a M snob as much as I hate to admit it and since I love the way the 2 series looks I would imagine the M2 will be def something that would appeal to me. So until I physically get behind the wheel I wont know if its for me or not but YES its def something that is working up to appeal to me and def something I will consider.

I don't think that's the case at all, but who else was hoping for around 380hp/tq and a being lighter than a 235i?

That's not exactly out of this world in terms of desires, hopes, and has nothing to do with filtering out 'fake buyers', kind of a douche thing to say - wouldn't you agree?

Personally, I think the power could be a little higher and it'd be nice to see some more colors offered; however I know this car will be well balanced and probably drive like a dream, which is what the focus of this car is all about.

We Need a New Red

Melbourne was new for the E92. I think its over saturated now. Like EBII, its on EVERYTHING.

I'd like a signature M Red or Sakhir on the M2. Otherwise...LBB for me.

And cloth/Alcantara manual seats.

Thanks Dackel for the post.

I almost wonder if the 1M gained its "cult" status due to its limited production. As said above, not all that different performance wise from a 135i and even the m235i puts down better numbers on the track. Supposedly the 1M has much better FEEL than either car, but couldn't that be more due to BMW's normal lineup becoming soft and boring?

I was always told BMW was supposed to be the brand for drivers, but seems like you have get a car with an "M" on it to be valid anymore. I've only test driven a few newer BMWs but after driving some friends older 3-series, they definitely don't feel nearly as sharp (speaking to the entry/mid level models).

I agree with Golffrr on this. I currently drive an M4 and I am first on the order book at my dealer for the M2. I came out of my 1M into the M4 and will have no problem in going back into a smaller car such as the M2. So far the M4 is a lot of fun but I actually found my 1M to be more hardcore and much less digital. That is really what I would be looking for in the M2, let's hope that BMW still have the bottle of Pyratt DNA to spray over the M2. If it doesn't deliver I will keep my M4 ///Monster to make me smile.

Just my 2 cents as someone who went through all of this being one of the first to order a 1M.

Oh and it will be MG in colour this time

I believe I was the first in the states to have a M4 but I could be wrong either way I have had the car almost a year now (June 14th) so I have a great sense of how it drives etc.. I have almost 10k miles on the car now I believe.

I have a new M4 coming in also but who knows how long Ill have that one lol I am always looking to change things up and this M2 may be that car that makes me try something new for me.
