M235i Racing Parts Bin
I'm curious to what extent we'll be able to source and seamlessly fit parts from the M235i Racing onto the M2. And further, beyond the KW v3 coilovers, are there suspension differences between the M235i and the M235i Racing that might make their way onto the M2?

Finally a good subject!
There are extensive suspension differences between the 235i and the racing but will they pair with an M2? Probably not if the 235 to M2 is similar relation to 435 to M4.

I suspect the M2 will pull mostly from the M3/M4 parts bin and very little (if at all) from the M235 racing.
Edit: I guess that's not really what you're asking. My bad.

The use of the M235i Racing carbon fiber strut brace, which appears to be the exact same as the m3/m4 brace, was essentially confirmed by Scott in this older thread:

I am also curious if you were to do a track-car conversion down the road if you could source and use the carbon fiber door panels, transmission tunnel panels, and any other similar bits (I imagine it will be quite some time before someone attempts this one). |

Scott has said that the M2 is about as wide as the M4, as it has the M3/M4's rear. From what I have read, the M235i Racing which is not making as much hp (335ish?)as the M2 (375ish) will be making (thus negating having the M3/M4 rear end) , does not have the rear from the M3/M4. Since the M235i has been out, there has not been anything stated that it does. And it was RELEASED before the M3/M4 was. So, why would it have suspension/rear end of the Star car before said car was released? It doesn't make sense. It basically goes like this---M235i, then M235i Racing,Vision GT, M2 takes some inspiration from both M235i and Vision GT, plus more hp than M235i Racing/regular M235i, wider flares, M3/M4 rear end, then hardcore version of M2, which is a toned down version of the Vision GT. That is the evolution. From what we are told, there hardcore M2 is the one you take to the track. If there is a possibility of a extra strength M2 then this car may or may not have extra carbon and things of that nature. |

I think what OP is getting at is will the race specific parts be transferable to the M2 and will their relation in platform (being a 2er) mean anything. Think Porsche GT3 cup parts to GT3 street car. I hope so. BUT IMHO the M2 will be so significantly different to the 235i/racing that most parts won't sync. Not saying the M2 will not have even better goodies

So you think kW Dampers and H&R springs are the same as kW v3 c/o ?

I don't know. Haven't seen the V3 damper and this damper side by side. If I had to guess it's probably KW Clubsport based.

Do you think it might be possible to remove the i-Drive screen from a base M2, similar to the M235i Racing? Granted some coding would be involved and some multimedia and car interfacing functionality would be gone. Also, not saying I want to do this, just curious.
Similar to the 1-series:

I am more interested in buying M235i racing parts for my M235i. Specifically the anti roll bars and or that strut tower brace. I have the KW DDC coil overs and according to KW they are based on the V3 but work with the adaptive damping system.
