Does this looks normal......
To the members that have replace the exhaust in their M235i and have crawled under your vehicles. I got under my M235i and took this pictures of the area where the catalytic converter connects to the front muffler pipe. Are these pictures showing a normal condition in that area? I ask because I'm trying to determine if the exhaust fumes I have being smelling are coming from an abnormal connection in my M235i exhaust.

No, just normal gasoline. Do you have any idea how to remove that clamp on the picture. I want to take a look underneath.

Yes. It's called a V band clamp. Unbolt the bolt from the thread than wedge a flat head and loosen it's hold. Then slide one edge over the lips and boom it's off.

I found the bolt completely loose when I got under the car to investigate the constant exhaust fumes getting inside the M235i cabin.
I did exactly as you suggest, got a flat head screw driver and wedge it in there until the clamp got loose. Do you know what those small tabs that you see on the picture are? Is there anything sandwich in between the two pipes? |
