A Star Is Born

Received some excellent news this morning.

Our EBII/Dakota Black M235i went into production yesterday, 22 January. We now have a VIN (hence, "A Star Is Born").

Quick recap:

- ordered the M235i from BMW of San Antonio on 7 January. Jim Wester, Sales Manager handled the business end. Jim assigned Kevin Clarke, Client Adviser to help out and follow through with all arrangements.

- 9 January. My lovely wife's birthday. I gave her a birthday card, a dozen red roses and a brand new BMW key ring with a caveat that she gets to finish optioning her new-soon-to-be-built BMW M235i.

- 12 January. Provided Jim our "final" option list. Kevin than sees to it that the options are in the production order.

- 22 January - production begins. Estimated completion date: 2 February.

- Performance Center Delivery.

Congrats! Did they give you an estimated date window yet on the PCD? I'm wondering what the weather is like there in March?

My build is scheduled to start on Feb 6, but my CA is trying to schedule a PCD pickup in April. I think the weather should be good by then, but not really sure. It's hit and miss here in the grim Northeast in April.

Sweet! Our cars are on the production line together - exact same dates! I'm doing PCD as well. I was told I should get a date on Monday.

Thanks everyone. We're very excited!

We were given a tentative PCD date of 2 April. We shall see how transoceanic shipping goes. Then the Port of Charleston and by rail to BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg.

Early April may still be wintry in and around the Spartanburg/Greenville area. We're hoping for a strong early spring to better enjoy some of the best mountain road driving this side of the Mason-Dixon line.

You'll have to be very unlucky to get bad weather. Should be great spring driving, hopefully before the pollen gets heavy. You heading over to the Dragon?
If you see an EB M235 languishing in the lot it could be mine since I got the 7th.

Thanks. If all goes well, we're planning on driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Cherohala Skyway too.

Cherohala is great. No tight turns, but big sweepers and fantastic views. Hwy 28 splits off of the Dragon and runs along Fontana Lake; it is worth a run as well. Not many cops on either of those roads.
My wife gets car sick, so we'll stick to tamer roads.

That's a good route and could bring us by way of the ATL. Good accommodations and some Buckhead area nightlife.

As of 4:59 PM, Monday, February 2, 2015 (GMT+1). Leipzig, Germany our M235i shows in final stages of build and going through quality control checks.

Build officially commenced, Saturday morning, January 31st.

With estimated completion of build sometime today, our M235i will have a February build date stamping.

Hey, where does it "show in final stages of build" ? On the BMW site ? Or did you call 800 ?

Confirmed with BMW USA this morning that our M235i has completed build yesterday, February 2nd. It's still in Leipzig awaiting land transport to shipping terminal. Next stop Bimmerhaven for ship assignment and transport.
