Thumbs up Closeup BMW M2 photos - M double slat grilles and peek at Long Beach Blue

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
My brother was at the ring the other day and spotted a BMW M2 behind the fence, not the greatest photos but worth a share. - Adam

Admin Addendum:

You can see the Long Beach Blue paint (as previously confirmed) peeking through from underneath the camouflage on the lower front bumper in the first photo.

This is also a first look at the M double slat kidney grilles on an M2 prototype. You can also see a taped up M2 badge on the driver side grille.

Those rear fenders seem to look bigger every time I see a new picture, lets hope it's just the angle or it will look dire

Of course it does. It needs a CFRP roof and power dome on the hood before it can properly be differentiated from the M235i.

Yes, it needs proper differentiation from the M235 but since it's cheaper to dig through the same parts bin, hood included, many similarities will exist.
Sausage making works for the bean counters while enthusiasts get shafted.
We deserve a GT6 replica, CSL chassis, proper hood line and a bespoke engine.
Scott says we are getting ahead of ourselves. I say BMW is falling behind!

Nice din't notice that they changed the kidneys also for the M ones until now. So that's a plus.

But i bet the end product will be quite different from the M235i but i don't think people should expect a new " 1M " in terms of style, Considering BMW is following the same line as all other developers to use as much of the same products for the cars as possible to reduce the production cost.

I clearly remember a thing that opened my eyes to this was, I was driving around at work in one of our company's ford transit connects, Then at the end of the day my friend with an Focus RS came to pick me up we were of to a car gathering somewhere in town so he let me drive it, And the interior was exactly as the connect the difference was the connect had "hard plastic" and the rs "Soft plastic" so at that point i started to seeing the car developers all following the same line to reduce the cost.

You can see from the scratches in the vinyl that the car is a LBB car wrapped in black vinyl and then camouflaged.

Where's the M mirrors?!

Anyone notice the dual slat grills with the M badge placeholder?

This.

I was going to say the hood and bumper looks wrapped as you can see the lines and it's very dull.

If the car is wrapped in black vinyl all across then could it be that the roof is also wrapped and might be a CF roof? Not to get anybody's hopes up but just asking. This looks like a last stage prototype. The 19" Wheels looks like those that belong to the M3/M4

The fact that it still doesnt have M mirrors gives me hope that the power dome and/or CFRP roof will still make an appearance. As a case in point none of the Cayman GT4 mules had the side scoops that the production car has, nobody saw them coming until the official release - despite having an impact on aero these were never tested in public on any mules. For all we know all the mules could be carrying a CFRP roof that has been paintd or vinyl wrapped.

Or, they are just colour mismatched bumpers they've thrown on and camo-wrapped for testing.
