Hi I have noticed the auto climate control does not fluctuate the fan to control the climate. Is there a setting i am missing? If this is normal this really sucks cause i loved this in my 135i. I just set it to 69 degrees and it kept the car comfortable for the summer and 71 degrees in the winter. Never had to touch the climate.
Horrible that auto climate control has become manual. WHY

Same. Only thing auto about it is the temp. Which is extremely annoying...

I called bmw they said this is normal. I put in a complaint that "this is not climate control. This BS. The whole purpose of climate control is to control the climate. It does no such thing now. It takes manual intervention to control the climate"
Please anyone else annoyed by this call bmw and put in a complaint. Hope enough complaints they will correct the software to control the climate as it should.

I think it will reduce fan if it reaches the temp you set but it wont increase the fan speed beyond what you've set it to regardless of the interior temp. Kinda silly.

then you just set the fan to max and that is it... isn't it ?

I never use Auto, I find it never has the right fan setting (in other cars) so I just always set the temp to lowest possible and control the fan speed manually.

Fan speed varies automatically in my 228. Works just like it did in my 128. On 90 degree days starts out really blasting you then as interior temp cools off fan speed lowers

That is interesting. Leads me to believe they coded the software incorrectly in the M235i

Any other 228 owners experience the same as tccox (fan varies speed)?

interesting what other cars did you see this in? I have had 2 BMW's over the last 15 years and it was great just set it to auto set your temp and it took care of controlling the climate similar to your home thermostat .

I have a 228 and it doesn't vary the speed. I'm in the US.

My fan varies while on auto. The fan functions just the same in all the other BMW's that my family has/had. I love the ability to tweak the fan settings while in auto.
M235i in the States.

Soo.. When you press auto and set your temp. What happens? Does the fan kick into high gear to reach the temp and then slows when getting close to the temp? Or does the fan just stay at what ever speed what previously selected?

Ok so do you see the fan speed boxes rise and lower on the dash or just hear the fan speed up and slow down?

In older BMW's the boxes would rise and lower showing the fan speed.

I've never actually taken the car out of Auto yet. I set the temps (both sides) then let the fan do its thing. It goes from fullish blast (I usually leave the speed in the middle setting) to a lower speed and intensity as the journey continues.

On longer trips, so long as the front, where I'm sitting is at a comfortable temperature I'll turn the fan down a box or two, as I don't really need the rear seats comfortable as well.

Yes my fan speed increases and decreases both on the display and in sound and fan velocity. All while "AUTO" is being displayed.

Thinking back though, the demo car that I sat in, when I tried to adjust the fan speed the car would switch from auto to manual.

I tried this and works fine.... try this set it to auto and set both driver and passenger temp to 65 then change pssanger to 80 and you will see how the fan starts throwing much more air... put passagner back to 64 and it slows down again

COuld be, but my fan starts changing speeds within a few minutes of me getting in and going. But under the following conditions:
I always have my idrive set to start cooling the car before I get in it after work.
And my fan speed is always set at the middle setting.
Temperature set at 67/68/69 degrees depending on what sort of summer day Connecticut decides to have.

No precooling and a different starting fan speed might contribute to the longer periods of the fan not adjusting.

Audi and Mercedes. But living in Phoenix, the car is like 130º when you get in it so no matter what you set the temp to, the car is trying like crazy to cool it down and the fan runs too high for my liking, it just blasts you with air which is why I prefer to just leave the temp at the lowest settings and adjust the fan manually as needed.

You can set temperature for pre-cooling? I thought it was just the vent opening and fan spinning to get the hot air out. How did you do that?
