Picking up a M2C tomorrow
Hi everyone,
I just registered and this is my first post but I have been reading posts for a few months. I am planning on picking up a 2021 with about 6800 miles on it tomorrow. I have already made the deal, but it's a few hours away so I haven't actually seen or driven it yet. From what I am told and from the pictures the car looks very close to new and also has one year left on the factory warranty. Is there anything specific I should be looking at when I get there? I have seen a few horror stories of people being denied warranty because of "over revs". Probably no way to check for that, right? |

You can probably request for the dealer to check for overrevs, but they will typically do that as part of a warranty request, not at will. They have to get in touch with BMW engineering who will run the test themselves for the dealer.

I doubt the dealer will offer up the overrev information…why would they when it’s all risk to them. If the report is clean, great, you’ll buy the car like you were going to anyway. If it shows some overrevs, even if the car checks out fine, it could put the sale in jeopardy.

The dealer cannot get overrev information at the technician/dealer level.

When I bought my CPO from a dealer, I had them print out the service history. They blacked out the previous owners info on all the pages (except one, oops). I eventually spoke to previous owner on via PM here on bimmerpost.

Congrats!
Make sure you get it in writing that the warranty is transferred to you. Since it’s at a BMW dealer I’d have them print off the service history and put it up on the lift to get a good look. If not possible I like to run my hand under the front bumper cover to feel for scratches. Something about knowing the prior owner was very cautious with parking it around curbs makes me feel better! With the warranty still in place I’d sleep very soundly. Great find! Enjoy! |

I hadn't checked mine for this when buying it, but luckily the previous owner babied it.

Thanks everyone for the input. I picked her up yesterday.
I got a copy of the service history and everything checks out. Even though it only has 6800 miles it has already had three oil changes. Running-in service and then one a year just like it should be. The only issue/annoyance was the paint was not as good as I was told. It is not terrible and nothing that won't buff out, but I was told it was like new. I'm going to take it to my local detail shop to get cleaned up and then ceramic coated. |

Right after you get it buffed and corrected, I recommend a front end PPF. I did that to mine right after getting it and I drive with a lot less anxiety.

Is it CPO? If not, ask the dealer why they didn’t CPO it.
