Anyone miss driving a manual?
Love my m340i, it's perfect but lately I have been missing shifting and even a little nostalgic for my previous car a 2018 Sti. Yeah the STI was a nightmare when it came to reliability especially tuned but it was pretty raw driving experience wise, but it was way slower than my m340 even with an e85 tune. Yet I'm still kinda browsing around and looking at 2020's, talk me out of my madness. Also to add to the situation I got a ridiculous deal on my m340 and I can basically get more for it now than I paid for it, so yeah.

Yes but no. I would like to own a manual car again if I had the extra money. But with my everyday driving and the technology of DCT, I probably won't own another manual. Things like DCT and sequential gearbox are a thing of beauty. The sound, the instant gear change while midturn that doesn't disrupt the chassis just gets me going. A 3rd pedal is fun, but don't enjoy it as much as DCT.

My R35 Mini s is a manual....love driving it. You feel so much more connected to the car.
My 335i is a 6AT...... although not bad, I just don't like it. It just feels like it's got a mind of its own....like you don't have much control of what's going on. Wish it was a 6MT..... |

I have owned 20 BMWs, and 13 of them have been manuals.
Used to love the shifting but not so much now. Present BMW is 8 spd auto, and I will not go back to manuals again. I am older, and the thrill is gone for me now.

Sometimes but the sacrifice of not being able to road trip with it wasn't worth it.

I will tell you in a few months. I have always had at least one manual in the garage until a couple months ago when I sold my manual C7 for the Model 3. So far I'm ok, but mainly because I'm not driving much anyways. However nothing beats being behind some slow ass motherfuckers holding up traffic and finally getting a clearing and down shifting that bitch and hammering it!!!! Ahhhhhh gets all the stress out! Clicking a paddle not so much.

I don't missing driving a manual at all...because I still have more than one!
Just came back from an 18-mile drive in the Mighty Dodge, rowing through all 6 gears and enjoying the music of six cylinders of inline diesel goodness. FWIW, there isn't an automatic in our driveway. Three of the vehicles are manuals, and the other two are one-speed electric vehicles.....

I have a DCT M3 and a 6 speed MT STI, I still thoroughly enjoy shifting the STI on a regular basis. I had curiosity about how good the DCT would be, but from now on I will always buy stickshifts.

I love the CS but it's my first non-manual BMW (this is my fifth). It's been over a year and I still miss driving stick.
I really think this goes back to personal preference. I have friends that made the switch to DCT and they love it for various reasons. Others prefer stick for the experience. I'm in the latter camp. Despite the advantages of quicker shifts, there's something about pressing down on the clutch and physically moving through the gears. I don't judge either camp. Depends on what the argument and context is.

The only shifting I enjoy now is using my foot on the scooter. DCT is too good!

Myself and everyone who I know that went DCT and had no manual car in their garage ended up hating it. Myself and everyone who I know went back to a true manual and don't regret it at all.

I'm sure you can pickup a CPO manual M4 still under warranty that's not too far off the price of that brand new M340i.

I have not had a manual in my garage for over 25 years. Never my primary DD, but I won't sell my last one till I have another one. I had up to 3 at once and had 2 at once a few times.
Nothing like rolling thru the gears to erase a shitty day. Drove one today - about ready to go climb in it.
