On my 228i, had a full engine death at 95 miles.

Dealership told me it was a bad fuel pump.

I realize it's a different motor than the M235i, but it's at least worth noting.

I am inclined to believe them, that it was a fuel pump issue..but they gave me a brand new car (which looking back, is odd...but super nice)

I kept checking their website to see it resurfaced as new or used for sale...but haven't seen it yet.

No offense, but if it's an entirely different engine, and hence an entirely different fuel pump, why is it noteworthy?

Really disappointing that we're getting no feedback on what went wrong.

Some of the One Lap results are really puzzling to me. For example, how the hell does a Chevy HHR SS take the top spot on a road course?

http://www.onelapofamerica.com/event...=96&eventId=33

I realize that this particular HRR is fielded by Hennessy Racing, but it's an HHR! If you enter the Kentucky Derby riding a mule, I don't care what kind of prep you do to the half-breed, it's not going to place well

Did everyone else throw the race as a joke? Did the HHR drive across the infield, and no one cared because they had no chance of taking the points lead? OLOA looks like a lot of fun for the participants, but it's really lacking on the communications front. I guess it's kind of one step above local Auto-X racing. You gotta be there.

Question - why do you think this is "strange?" I understand disappointing, but strange?

I just got and read the latest issue of Roundel. Apparently food poisoning hit a few of the drivers/teams participating. That is why they didn't finish. True story.

I guess all the BS theories about what could have been wrong with the car can be put to rest. The problem was a bad exhaust.

And no one could be bothered to say so here in this thread? Meh, I don't usually gravitate toward conspiracy theories, but the official line on this one doesn't hold water. Even if it is true, it's a shit way to treat your fan base, keeping them in the dark and all.

The driver did have food poisoning but that was not the reason. I was at the Atlanta track. One minute the car was there, the next minute it was gone. I asked the line judge and he said there was a problem with the car, it was loaded on a flat bed and towed away. I confirmed with the co-driver a couple of weeks later and he said the car was towed back to South Carolina and that the car had not been looked at yet. That was many weeks ago and it is strange that nothing further was ever posted.

The plot thickens... I wonder if Roundel was asked by BMW to say it was food poisoning.
