Delay in 2017 M240i Production ..........

I ordered my 2017 M240i Coupe 2 months ago and have yet to get a VIN# from my dealer.
I emailed him this morning and told me there has been a delay on Production.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me??

Tell me about it. I ordered a 240 in mid-June. It just made it on a boat two days ago. Delivery in mid-October.

I ordered July 24 and I'm pretty much in the same situation.

It's frustrating, but there's nobody I can really complain about.

My 230 delivery date was delayed 6-8 wks because of a shortage of Michelin PSS tires.

Ordered my 240 in early July and it finally went into production this week. Estimated date of completion (available via their toll free number but not online) is September 27.

Lennyf, does your tracker indicate that it's in production? If so, you may want to ask the 800 number for your completion date. You'll just need a production number to get that information. You can call 800-831-1117.

Same for 230i. Ordered over a month ago but still no production number. Not sure if this is solely caused by shortage of PSS tires. It's frustrating but out of our control..

I heard that if you ordered a vehicle for lease vs for finance/purchase BMW holds you for an additional month before giving you an order #. Who knows if it's true or not...

Ordered mine July 4th (US Spec, delivered to German dealer for military) and took delivery this past Thursday. Didn't get my vin until the week before production (which started September 5th). Takes some time unfortunately to get the vin, but I think it's because the paperwork has to get approved by the DMV for a specific chassis that is allotted to your specific build (sunroof vs deleted sunroof) etc.

My 230i THP was ordered July 6, production number the following day. Finished production this week (Tuesday) and ED is 10/10...if there aren't PSS tires on there, I'm gonna flip!!!

Advantage of being in Germany! I ordered mine in June and entered production 2 days before you. However, mine is still on a ship!

ya it is an advantage

sucked seeing it sit on the waiting lot though for about a week or 2 because it had to wait to clear customs before they could prep it for delivery.

I have a similar situation. I ordered mine July 1st, US spec delivered in Germany because I am in the military. I had a vin number the first week of August. The car finished production 24th August. I am taking delivery on Monday at the Welt. Getting it at the Welt (same as ED) added a month to the waiting period, but I think it will be an awesome experience and totally worth it.

I thought about doing the welt delivery but $300 to ship it to the dealer wasn't bad compared to the trip to get there and staying there for a day or 2 (because I'd have to bring my dogs). I'll make the trip down there one of these days, but it'd be a day trip.

I hope you like the visit, I've heard a ton of great things about the welt.
