What a way to live a life

Outcome looks bleak.
Tuning in my old lease ending F30 on July 22. Not liking where I stand right now.
I don't want a 2 series coupe and don't want another 3 series.

Residual values for 2017s are going to be on the floor (52%? maybe less) which significantly increases the monthly cost.

There's no way I would pay 47k for a left over 228i with DAP... I just bought a 2016 M235i fully loaded for 43.9k. They are rooking you, if they want to get rid of the car they'll make a deal.

Congrats on your M235i! Thanks. I had the strongest feeling that they were screwing me hence the reason I walked outta there. I should just take a trip to S.Fla and hit up Brahman or Vista.
Also if I have to I'll just let my lease end and drive around in my E30 325i for a month or so until I can find a realistic deal since I'm opting for a left over 16' now. The sales guys over at the dealership think I'm just going to get a car now because my F30 320i lease ends on 7-23. I'm currently living in PA (Scranton area) and Ive seen these same cars (two 228i verts) sitting on the lot since May.

look for a dealer/manufacturer demo. they are usually loaded and 15-20+% off sticker but can be leased at BMWFS lease rates less mileage adjustment of something like $0.25 per mile over 500. they usually have between 2-8k miles on them. the maintenance plan is transferable on these also.

FWIW I got my 16 M235i x-drive in March of this year (51,470 MSRP) for 46.9k 12/36 lease. With $6500 down my payment is $471/month all in. They are attempting to bend you over. Shop around, residuals are much better on 16's you should be able to get at least 8-10% off MSRP (maybe more).

You didn't mention the selling price in your post but I hope you are negotiating that first - don't ever negotiate based on payment.

I found all of the dealerships in this area to be the worst. Like fat slimy Jabba the Hutt worst, with the exception of Vista Pompano which didn't have what I wanted. I just Autotrader'ed around and found a few that I liked and e-mailed and found the one who gave me the best deal. Did everything via e-mail and one phone call.

As long as Carfax doesn't say it's ever been titled, it's probably a demo and you can probably lease it. Though personally I don't know why you would; with the residuals below 60% you end up ultimately paying more for a lease than you would buying it and then you're left with nada at lease turn-in time.

And the F22 has good reliability relative to other BMWs.

Residuals on these cars are horrible, not avery attractive car to lease. You can drive a 20k more car for the same price if the residual is good.

You may want to try and find an exec demo. Those lease amazingly well.

Before buying a old 2013 128i sigh.. I have thought about buying a 16' 228i DAP. There is many leftovers still are out there and I don't want to get (lease) another car I don't desire (F30 320i). Perhaps I can finance one with an Avg. MSRP of $47k. My thoughts right now are to plan on shopping for a leftover starting in mid September. Any thoughts on this guys?

Does bmw allow a 72 month financing option??
I have done 72 months before on a car I own but it was a different brand vehicle.

Wait til Dec if you can that's when you'll get your best deal. Sept is 2nd best but more cars available.

Update: I recently put up my 1988 325i for sale. It's a 3 week ad on auto-locator online and on newsstands. After the three weeks if the car doesn't sell I may decide to keep it. I don't necessarily want to sell it as it is my first car I've had for 19 years but it may be the time to sell to help fund a 228i vert.

Update detail: I'm still in talks with the dealership that has the car I want. I'm still aiming to get the MSRP down with the sales (we've been engaging in the game of phone tag this week so far) so when I talk to the salesman I will attempt to do so. Financing the car is the best option for me because I would be planning on keeping the F23 as long as I've had my E30 325i. Right now the dealership has a 0.9% APR program going on 2016 models until 8-31-16. We'll see what tomorrow brings..

I am making a trip to check out a 228i convertible in North Carolina this weekend. Car MSRP's at 47K.

What is the cost (or % cost) of NC sales tax?

Sales-tax % will be based on the city/state you live in.

Leasing, just add that percentage to your monthly payment.

OP $500/ mo is almost M235i money.

Left overs can be great deals. I got a m235 vert with every option other than lsd for $37,500

BMW does do 72 months.

I'm not really a vert guy, but what is the MSRP for the car you want? 47k for a 230i is a shot ton of money in my opinion (if only the *30i meant straight six as it used to be...).
in my opinion, BMW is trying to get rid of the 2016 cars on the lot by keeping the residuals lower for the 2017 leases. If you lease your vehicle at 52% residual, you're just encouraging them to keep the residuals low, which is bad for you and future BMW lease customers.

On 8-13-16 I purchased a 2016 228i convertible...the car I've been eyeing up for the past month.

I made the trip to my brother's house in Charlotte NC from my home in Northeastern PA and took the drive home back to PA in my new car.
Unexpected: My brother spied a ding on the car as I was filling out the paperwork and I prolly turned as white as ghost. I walked outside with a bunch of dealership employees all trailing behind me. There was indeed a crease ding on the pass-side door. The Small crease ding included a slight scratch too (Previously I looked over the car and didn't see the ding).

The dealership hustled to try to call their PDR guys. Not one returned calls as it was approx 1:20PM at the time and the PDR guys and dent wizard charlotte end their weekend at 1:00PM. So just missed them. They offered to pay for PDR repairs so I had it repaired Thursday (yesterday) by my old go to PDR guy who has worked on my 128i and 320i. I noticed 1 other slight ding on the drivers door Monday night under the halogen lights in a dark-lit garage..so I had both dings repaired.

Later Thursday afternoon I did a three bucket hand wash and then some slight claying because the paint felt rough which was odd to me. I noticed more and more roughness so I clayed the entire front bumper and chrome kidney grilles (the grills had the roughness too Ahem..Overspray?). Some of the stuff I thought was rail dust was actually behind the clear coat - clay bar wouldn't pick it up. Looking at the from the ground I could see paint inconsistencies... The bumper was resprayed...looks blended on entire passenger side of front bumper to about middle of kidney grille area of the bumper. I tried to put some glaze detail spray on the paint and then wanted to add Prima Amigo paint prep liquid on the paint (the liquid is deep graphite in color) It started to seep through the clear coat...I could't get it off with a mf towel..looked like black streaks Caked on or embedded in the clear coat, so I used some mirror glaze swirl remover to remove it..I again inspected the paint and it's definitely too thin and inconsistent. Even if i tried to deal with it the blended /painted area it would look like crap in less than 2 years. My sales rep called me ironically to see if I'm liking the car and I said yes (also told him I got the dings removed).. and then expressed my displeasure in the paintwork blemishes. The salesman offered to have the whole bumper refinished..and I was not too happy about refinishing the bumper of a NEW car with less than 1,000 miles on it. Lets not even discuss the difficulty people have with Mineral White tri-stage paint matching. It's tough not easy. We'll see what I can get done...I'd drive back down to the dealership and have their guys to the paintwork...but they didn't do a good blend job with dust particles under the clear and some splotching inconsistencies on the blended side. Going to probably have Daniels BMW (certified) in Allentown PA do the refinish http://www.danielscollision.com Never thought that this is stuff I'd be dealing with. Takes away from some of the excitement of having a new car.

*Edit- tonight after 6PM I took my wife out to dinner with the new 228i vert and noticed some deep glass scratching/scuffing on low point right above weatherstripping of the driver's door glass. Yep..that's from the PDR guy's metal tool thing he stuck down in my door with windows down to access the ding. Just noticed a day too late. It's not minor scratching because my fingernail catches in the scratch. Have to have some professional do a scratch repair on the glass (closest place that has technicians that do that kind of work is 2 hrs from me in busy Philadelphia). Tried to do some quick research. That won't be a cheap repair and may affect the tint because the glass gets hot from the compounding of glass scratch removal paste with power tools. I'm not going to try a DIY glass scratch kit for $130 either.

Wait till I tell my salesman about the glass scratching. Get the dings out & get a free permanent deep scratch on your tempered glass drivers door window.

*I'm not posting here to be a complaining fool but this is what is happening. I love my new car. I wanted the luxury pkg, lighting pk, premium pk, moonlight top, and harmon kardon sound. Was lucky to find one with all these specific options. That said, I'm happy to find a car with everything I wanted & the exact look I was going for. I love driving around in it and the drive from NC to PA was a 9 hour blast!
-I'll post back with my findings Monday. Called and Missed the certified Daniels BMW body shop today. They closed at 5pm.

How do you like the white interior? Is it easy to maintain? Does it pick up a lot of color from jeans pants?

It's easy to maintain if you buy it new and are original/only owner lol.

I've had two bmws with light grey leather interiors. This car should be easier then my light grey full grey interior on my E88 128i convertible (the entire interior is light grey except the top of the dashboard and the top boot trim at rear deck of the car.

The F23 2 series convertible is much easier to maintain due to the black carpeting and black door trims on console door cards, etc. I was originally a critic of this two tone interior scene bmws has been doing in 1 series and 2 series cars since 2012. Took me a long time to accept it and all because it's a cost cutting move. (all door cards are one color:black...& just have a leather or sensatec color insert in them). The general public essentially now likes the two tone look in majority over the monotone look and I'll admit that the two tone has grown on me. I like the fact that it's easier to clean mainly due to the black carpet.

To answer your question: The leather will easily stain if you or a passenger sit on the seats - no lie. Try to avoid wearing jeans. I don't and won't until I get seat covers. Seat covers are the way to go. I didn't get em' yet but when I do they will be sheepskin which may be a pain to match so I'll be getting samples sent to me from the manufacturer. Right now I have a Oyster custom made bottom seat cover and will be using a OPTP Thoracic Lumbar Back Support (OTPT.com) on the top part of the seat when it gets here. I'm 35 years old and play basketball 5 times a week so I need the thing lol.

All in all I've learned a lot over the years. Ive had my E30 325i sedan for 19 years and have done a good job maintaining the car. I toured the Color+ (www.colorplus.com) facility years ago with my local bmw cca chapter and learned how to treat and maintain leather interiors. I use their products when needed but with a new car all you need to do is use a leather care product on the seats weekly.

I won't need an aggressive leather care product for many years so I'm continuing my old E88 1 series interior care routine on the car. I use Armour All Leather Care a gel-like conditioner with light cleaning ability with BMW interior-care liquid: A clear liquid which is great for maintenance of the interior. Ive been using it for 6 years now. It is effective for spot cleaning on carpeting too btw.

My annual leather full detail consists of Color Plus super cleaner and softener. I probably will not need to do a full detail in year one though.
