Hmm, while I do think the car looks and sounds awesome (probably goes really well too) there are some things that strike me as rather pointless.
I mean, this is supposed to be a race car, correct? It has a full rollcage fitted to it, its rolling on slicks and all.

So why the hell does this thing have an iDrive?!
And air conditioning?!
And why haven't they fitted a proper racing instrument cluster?
I mean, they're using the regular 1 and 2 series cluster, that doesn't even show water and oil temperature.

This thing is too compromised to be sold as a regular car, but not nearly as compromised to be a proper race car, IMHO.

Since I'm already bitching here, I also have to say that both videos suck. The european car video was ruined by the music, and the other video just had plain bad driving.

Anyway, given that the car looks and sounds so good, here's to hoping that BMW eventually makes this a version of the M235i available to the regular consumers! hahah

Production m235i racing will have standar dials plus a digital display.

I believe AC Is a requirement for VLN racing etc too isn't it now?

I love how it maintained the production steering wheel and dash. Shows it's a true race car from birth.

This is not a full on GT1 (ha, remember FIA GT? ) car. For the 100th time, it's a homologation racer, so it doesn't matter how compromised it is; it will only race against cars just like it. The point is to have an accessible race car that "real people" can buy and race.

They literally take an M235i off the production line and turn it in to this thing.

I'd take one over an M4.

I actually wasn't aware of that, and I also don't know if cars on the vln are required AC, so I apologize for the pointless ranting!

In the official video it is interesting to see one car had H+R springs+shocks and another had KW, cool to see that they are testing a few different combinations, and it is great to see BMW is working with them and including them early in the lifecycle of the 2-series.

I thought it was going to have the DCT?

I love the body kit, can't wait to see it in person at one of the VLN races!

Are you sure it isn't the fp?

Common sense dictates it's the diff making the noise if it seems to be liner w speed. But wouldn't this car have a pretty powerful new fp for 24 hr ?

Sound pretty much like a Porsche 911 then.
It comes only with a PDK also ;-)
It's a much more proper series sports car than the bimmer!
