Do you have a 335 lease or finance? When your 335 lease is up or when you trade your 335 have you/will you move to 235 or 435?

I just ordered a 235, coming out of an e90 335. I went back and forth for months, 4 series was too soft to warrant the additional cost IMO.

You'll get a very biased result on the 2 series forum

But I am trading out of my 335 into a 235

Exactly the same dilemma I had. Came off an E90 335 as well (hence the username). The 4 didn't excite me the way the 2 did when I test drove it. One test drive and it sealed the deal.

I traded out of my 335xi and moved to the M235i. No regrets.

E90 335i Sold to lease M235i here

The poll is naturally going to be very biased. If you posted this on the 4 series forum, you'd get the exact opposite results.

Leaning towards selling my E92 335, Putting down max MSDs and leasing an M3 next fall when prices have come down a bit (hopefully). About 300/month more than the M235.

^ Yikes. I can swing that but I'd hate seeing that large sum deducted every month. Also, I'd personally pass up year one on this new gen to make sure all the kinks are ironed out.

Can't go wrong with each choice, that's for sure.

For me the size is what eliminated the current generation 335 and 435 from being serious candidates. They grew way too wide for my liking and current needs. I considered buying a low miles E9X again instead of those current models.

Then I saw the 235. I never drove one but after seeing all the reviews and seeing one at an auto show, I took a gamble by placing an order without so much as a test drive and have no regrets.

It's just interesting even amongst folks just on this thread, how the sample group of 335 owners instead of going with the 435 that was built as the successor to the 335 they are actually going with the successor to the 1.

Yup, I felt the same. I didn't like how big the 3 and 4 series were. I wanted something more sporty and actually a bit more compact. The 2 seemed to be the most logical choice.

The price difference between a loaded up M235i and 435 is outrageous too, especially considering the M235i is a much better performance car. In Canada, the difference is about $10,400 for M-Sport and premium package builds. Christ, that'll probably be the same difference between an M235i and M2.

I have a BMW 128i right now that I love and my lease is ending on 7-25-14. I tested both the BMW 228i and the BMW 328i and the BMW 228i not only was more comfortable for me but felt quicker, handled better and was more fun to drive.

I know your question was for those members who are coming out of a 335, but I thought you should know that I felt the 228i was awesome! I did not test the BMW 235 since I think it only comes with a sport seat and I needed the regular seat as I am very petite.

Is the sports seat lowered? I don't think so…

The M235 has a lowered suspension and a sport seat so I did not test it but did sit in many of these very comfortable cars in show rooms. I tried it out by adjusting the seat and pretending I was breaking. I even brought my tape measure to measure the length of the seat. T

he Sport-line in the BMW 228i sure felt lowered with the bigger tired and the longer seat hitting my foot when I hit the break. It was so difficult to find any BMW 228 cars to test with no sport-line and/or no M-Suspension.

The sport seat has a lever underneath that sticks out a little bit bothering my foot when I did hit the brake. I am sure the car drives great as I would have loved another 6-cylinder car but I am only 4'10" tall. Sitting lower made me not see as well and I really just wanted a basic shorter more comfortable seat for myself.

The 2014 M235i does include a nice list of performance hardware, however. The standard car features M Sport brakes (bigger rotors, snazzy blue calipers) and M Sport suspension (stiffer, 0.4-inches lower) and a unique exhaust system. The options list includes Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers. And, if you want to build your own quasi-M2, you can upgrade the brakes and suspension from M Sport to M Performance, yet another fine-grained variant of the M-car hierarchy.

Lease end on E92 Msport: 10/13/2015. Leaning toward 235 which will be a 2016 model but might consider M2 if I can get a 2015 left over for about $60,000. So lots of model changes can take place in 16 months especially since we don't know much about the M2 yet. I also think the 435 is too big and soft but sure is a looker though.

JBMSport,

I also like the size and handling better for the 2-series car than the 4-series car. You have plenty of time to see which car will be better for you. I know you will love either one.

Thanks Lynn,

I really need to slow down and enjoy the great car I already have like my friends have said. I guess I am hooked on what's coming up next. It's like opening up a Christmas present.
