Has anyone here in the US had an M Performance Limited Slip Differential installed on their 2017 M240 with auto trans?

I'm getting two different part numbers from multiple sources. BMW's shopusa website claims this number: 33108659989

However, Realoem says that number is for the Euro 240 with auto.

Realoem says the part number is 33108659987, for both auto and manual USA 240s.

My dealer checked with BMW dealer support and they say: 33108659989

Just looking for some real world corroboration and reassurance.

Yep. Thank you. What's weird is there are conflicting numbers across various sources and sites--and some say the 9987 part is for manual and auto.

If you do have an opportunity to look at your paperwork, it would be much appreciated. My dealer seems like a novice at this, which does not inspire great confidence. Hoping the techs know more than the parts shop gal and my service advisor.

Let us know your thoughts / comparisons once completed, especially if you notice much difference in day-to-day driving as opposed to on the track, etc. I have considered the MP Dif but I am not convinced I'd notice enough of a difference compared to the costs. Also, if you don't mind, what are they charging you for the part and install.

Mind sharing the cost of the part and the labor separately?

Part is on special at the dealer--at "cost." Or around $2k. Yet to be installed but specs say around 2.5 hours labor.

BTW, both of the dealers that are forum sponsors on here are selling the LSD for $2100 shipped.

My price was a little better, and actually my dealer won't install parts not bought from them. Alas.

My 135is does not have LSD and it lifts the inside wheel when I leave our subdivision onto highway M-36, if I'm not very careful or it's wet, leading to that embarrassing thing where your engine essentially dies. So ... if it were possible, I'd want the LSD.

Lifting the inside wheel and the inside wheel slipping are very different things.

I think he meant it in regards to weight shifting/lifting enough to spin.. That's how I interpreted it, anyways lol. This is very typical of an open diff, though, so one should expect this to happen from time to time, with over 300hp..

Why would auto vs manual matter. I'm asking because I want to know if the LSD (Guts) it's self are different. Could it simply be because the drive shafts may be a different length? Perhaps the drive shafts have different bolt patterns?

My guess is different gear ratios.

Yes. Although the part numbers have changed again for the B58 engines.

Mentioned it in the other related thread. But will put it here, too:

Local dealer. $2,575 before tax. They were running a parts special, the diff at "dealer cost." So, the part was $2,000 and install is $575, per BMW's website.

It's in!

Did some break-in figure 8s, circles, etc. yesterday. But otherwise only have about 16 miles on it. I also traded out the Pilot Super Sports for A/S 3+, so those are breaking in as well. (I am over doing summer/winter swaps, and don't have a cold/foul weather driving alternative. Spouse gets the X5 and we are keeping the summers on the Boxster year round.)

So with the LSD and the all seasons, I've gained traction and lost traction at the same time. At least in the heat of summer on dry roads...

At any rate, the car already feels much more planted and controllable. It has lost much of its floaty feel around corners--which is what I disliked about the car. It now feels like it can put the power down in a predictable fashion--like my M3--both going into the corners and pulling out of them. We live in an old-style suburb, where all the streets loop around and intersect with each other. Getting to a main road is all twists and turns every day.

I look forward to full break-in (allegedly 500 miles or so) and some highway ramps in the future (where I most keenly felt the lack of the LSD.)
