Regarding the interior, I feel that the camaro is equivalent to the M235i. Perception plays a huge part in the usual comments about quality. Both cars use hard plastics on the interior panels below eye level. I mean it is how the OEMs keep pricing down on both cars.

As for size, there's no getting around it. The 6th Gen is the same size as a 4 series, which is pretty big. It also feels big due to the low roof and high belt line. Having said that the only time I can't see is through the rear window, but you have a back up camera as standard so it's a non issue.

Something people should think about is that choices are limited when it comes to V8 + RWD + 4 seats at a reasonable price nowadays. If you care about handling at all then SS 1LE is your winner from America. You have the e9x M3 and W204 C63 on the used market, but both could become a money pit without warranty and the 1LE will spank both stock for stock as I have done on track and on the street.

I test drove two different Camaro SS 6-speeds and fell in love instantly. For me, however, only the 1LE would do. And right now the 1LE is only an option on the 1SS. The 2SS 1LE is on the way according to Chevy, so I'm holding out for that.

Here's the summary: the BMW is a sporty luxury car; the Camaro SS is a street legal race car.

If you're into HPDE track days, there's no comparison between the SS and the M235i/240i, tuned or not. Just look how badly the SS 1LE whipped the M2 at last year's C&D Lightning Lap at VIR.

Here's a Camaro6g forum member doing a 2:11 lap at Watkins Glen in his 1LE. For comparison, a lap between 2:20 and 2:25 is considered good for a 2 series according to the tracking forum here.

If you want sporty luxury with the prestigious BMW badge, the 2 Series is your car. If you want a bargain basement race car for the street, it's the Chevy.

True, but that car is not really a daily driver at all. Loud as heck and you will be lucky to get mid-teens for MPG. Also a dog below 4500 rpm. I also found gearing to be rather too long on my drive.

If you looks at best 100% stock car times from the boards, m240i (x-drive) can get the 1/4 in 12.3-12.4, while the Camaro SS auto has done it in 11.9-12.1.

To me, the m240i is a step down in terms of performance. The m240i doesn't even come with a LSD. The new Camaro SS is on the same level as M3/M4. With mods you're comparing apples to oranges, but I would give the advantage to the Camaro because it's not limited by a locked ECU and fuel issues, and has much more aftermarket options available with cams, superchargers, etc.

My point is as it stands there's no point buying a 2SS for me as my car is just as fast by any real metric (maybe not at go to jail speeds but that doesn't really concern me)

I have nothing against the platform, in fact Ill likely be buying a lightly used C06 in a couple of years because that is a big step up in power and massive mod potential from the blower that makes eating the deprecation on my car worth it.
