Can I fit 225/45 R18 on a 2015 228xi M Sport Line?

Hi guys, need some help with tires I'm looking to get. Basically I want to get a set of tires with a larger sidewall to minimize impact of pothole damage as winter is coming up (tire warranty expired).

I want to get something similar to BFGoodrich g-force size 225/45 R18.

Currently running stock Pirellis (225/40 R18)

Does anyone know if there would be any clearance issues here on an M Sport model? Can't seem to find anything online.

Thanks

Should be fine, I have 225/45-18 Pirelli Sottozeros on 18x8 45mm offset wheels (tyre measures about 230mm wide) on our M240i, no rubbing issues. There is about 10mm below the strut spring perch and a similar clearance at full lock from the wheel arch liner at the front of the wheel arch.

Call Tirerack and speak with a PERSON. They are usually very knowledgeable or can direct you to a manager if they are not.

Have you considered 17" wheel/tires? I run 205/50-17 Conti WinterContacts and have not had a problem. Many members swear by 17"ers for pothole resistance even in summer, but especially for winter tires where the extra compliance is a bonus not a detriment. Much more dramatic than a 5% change in profile, and it won't throw speedo off. That said, I run the stock summer RFT Conti 18" in summer and have not lost a tire, despite some fairly bad roads (not NYC bad, but enough to jack my alignment once already)
