Interesting. My reporting on future BMWs always focuses on U.S. models, and the article only talks about the 330e that will be available here, but not the EU-only 325e. I wonder why...
And I appreciate Scott's confirmation that the real car won't look like this POS render. |

I doubt it, Tesla is far ahead of BMW on the Electric vehicle market, You might not like Tesla at all but they have done something amazing they have created such competition and forced the old dogs to learn how to sit :-) And now they are competing with Tesla on the EV market witch is the way we are going and moving on to hybrids and such cars in the future. The more competition the greater it is for us the end consumers.
I have said it before BMW needs to adapt faster to the new markets out there and start deploying tech faster in to their cars right now its just pure nonsense of them. Now for example of that i mean is, Lets take the new 7 Series luxury and all that with new tech, Then after that car has gotten all the tech they let it slip down the line to the 6er,5er,4er,3er,2er,1er and so forth by the time the tech gets to the 1er its old as heck, And a new series is coming its a fantastic way of selling tech and getting your money back for the investment in it, But i makes BMW look dated compared to the other brands who adds super new tech to their models faster and faster, Given that it works properly and you won't be having your car at the shop 3 days a week out 7 cause of it. BMW needs to invest a lot more money in developing tech that gets released for more models simultaneously. Or maybe offer people who already have a certain model to get an upgrade packages for a certain price that adds the new tech without being told "Its not possible" from the dealers and such |

Actually, I kind of keyed on the Hybrid M Model, though I'm fine waiting for the communications to take place in their own good time. Think Porsche 918 attributes at an attainable price point. very high mileage and very high performance, though the notion of a tossable go-kart like chassis will fade away unless we really get the CF and battery technology down.
Also interesting to see the rumor that Germany will ban internal combustion cars by 2030. That will certainly force evolution of the automotive landscape. It seems like fast charging is coming along and should be mature by then. I wonder if we'll have configurable sound tracks. Any driving sim you buy today has different cars with audio. I'd imagine we're not going to want to live in a TRON like world of screeching e-mobiles. Also, do the kidney grilles go away, or do they become tattoos like old lady eyebrows? non functional cosmetic CF bits? the Tesla 3 noses look strange. |

It's just a render and a bad one. Hood line here means nothing.

These low emission cars are going to either be slow or very expensive.
