ER downpipe was one of the best investment I've made. It sounds great and yes, back fires are normal.
I got the catless since I'm going straight pipe. A lot of people is concern with the smell and unless I'm reversing into a parking spot, I don't smell it at all. Also, many might get it just for the sound, but I do feel like there's a little bit power gain. Car feels like it pulls better.

If anyone is interested in getting a ER downpipe, PM me. I got an extra brand new one that I can sell to you for a discount.

I honestly do not recommend to go with catless, that WILL throw CEL errors and I've been told that even that you can clean them with JB4, they appear later (months).

I've had my car less downpipe by ER along with jb4 for about 6 months now. I've had no issues with CEL

I actually don't even have JB4. CEL is just on my dash but doesn't bother my daily driving. But I will be looking into JB4 in the future for the performance gains.

My buddy had JB4 + Catless DP for a year now with no issues or CEL reappearing.

In actuality, if you are just cruising along regularly (for me that is ECO Pro mode) the exhaust is completely bearable. In the moments where I would have to get up to speed a little quicker in either comfort or eco mode, the exhaust does resonate in the cabin quite a bit between 1500 and 2500 RPMs. It is definitely something I don't mind and quite enjoy listening to, so it's more of a plus for me. Just like everything else it comes down to personal preference. I have attached a clip of me driving through a parking garage. Forgive that fact that it was pretty crowded, but I couldn't resist since I had the DP installed about an hour or two previously and I could not bring myself to wait for it to empty out. The clip still doesn't do it justice and mind you the windows are open only about 1/4 of the way! Great alternate to the $2000+ exhaust out there that wont get you nearly as much gain with the sounds. $810 installed for the M performance exhaust + $670 installed for the ER catless dp = $1480 for a great sounding exhaust and gains

How is the exhaust note after going from catless to high flow catted? I'm looking to go that route after having smell issues. Is exhaust still raspy and nice (loud) during heavy throttle?

I've never gone from catless to high catted. I went from OEM to high flow catted.

Why? That is something I'm not able to tell you. I don't know your car or the condition you have it. Cheers
