Nothing wrong with my old one too, just needs new 3M adhesive tape, so it'll be for sale in the classifieds soon

Dinan Stage 1 installed on the M240Xi yesterday. Unfortunately I've only been able to drive it in busy traffic, so I have no good runs to see exactly what it can do yet. A few decent pulls getting on the freeway though. Feels like a pretty good difference and a very noticeable increase over stock power. Very smooth through the gears and the power band. Comfort mode has much more ass behind it while still maintaining what its supposed to be used for. Sport and Sport+ really feel like they're going to be quick. Barely had a chance to exceed 1/2 throttle so far, but I'm quite pleased already.

Where exactly does the lower air box mount and where is the intake for it? If you are running the intake through two air filters is there really an improvement in flow? I believe that for every bend in a flow channel there is a corresponding reduction in the flow which can be aggravated by the resistance of the filters. Just not sure of the design objectives of using two air boxes.
Maybe some of the M2 owners could comment on their installation, is it one or two boxes and how many filters? Is there a filter in the upper box or is it redundant when you install the lower air box?

Thanks

it's just the lower part of the air intake. it's not 2 intakes.

you've misunderstood.

Yeah look at the Dinan CAI instructions if you're confused you can see all the different pieces as they take it apart step by step.

Installed M Performance Grilles

Just did my first mod on my EB M240i. Gloss Black M Performance Grilles. Next mod is Gloss Black Mirror Covers from IND. :-) (Just can't get used to the stock color...)

Today I did alcantara and paddle extenders

Today I wrapped my interior wood trim to an ultra suede (alcantara). I also wrapped the leatherette above the passenger glove box. I used carbon fiber wrap to cover the chrome accents.

I installed replica "M performance" paddle shift extenders that just stick on to the existing paddles.

I ordered the wrap suede wrap of Aliexpress ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-...311.0.0.FQ0dRU )

here is how it turned out.

newbie buying 230I (special order)-tire advice

Newbie and first post to this forum (also own an '07 Miata and '08 Audi S4 with big V8 and MT). Looking to buy my first new BMW, a 230I with manual transmission. Given the scarcity on dealer lots I'm ordering direct : seaside blue, cognac leather, convenience package, heated seats, HK audio upgrade, pure line wood trim but my question is about tires.

Because I have a couple of other fun cars (occasionally track the Miata) this will just be a sporty daily driver. I'm perfectly fine with the 17" wheels but they come with run flats only. How much of a downside are they? is it worth the $600 upgrade to go with 18s with non RF tires?

Appreciate any feedback and thanks in advance for welcoming me to the forum.

Wrong thread, but the 18's are Michelin Pilot Supersports, great tires. I would definitely take the upgrade for $600 since they ride quieter and handle much better. Your car also won't be under-tired. The only downside is that they are unusable in the winter.

Made my own "M Performance Intake" with a 3/4'' step bit/unbit like in this thread.

Just got out of the garage and I'm excited to take the car for a drive.

I’m intrigued by this.

Let me know how the drive goes and if it sounds noticeably different

The carbon wrap I used was not the best. I would using real 3m 1080 carbon fiber wrap if you want it to have a 3d texture to it, but here is the link to the one I used.

I'm happy with the result. The sound went from a 2/10 to a 4/10 on the loudness scale. It's subtle but exactly what I was hoping for - more of an "OEM+" than an aftermarket sound. Balances out my M Performance exhaust nicely.

I think I will do this right now since I'm at the shop changing oil anyway. Cool. More tinkering.

Hot weather, JB4, and BMW using plastic on the charge pipe.

Scared the hell out of me since it made a pretty loud popping noise as I was getting on the freeway.

Have a nice ER charge pipe installed now and all is right in the world.

Threw on some BMS Burnt Titanium angle cut Tips. Big improvement over the smaller stock black chrome.

The bi-colored 624's are the best option from BMW IMHO.
