Right Turn Signal intermittent issue.....

Anybody knows if there is a TB on LCI cars with LED tail lights that have the weird intermittent fast blinking issue? I have the problem occuring more often. Is there any trouble code associated with this keeping stored?

This problem is really weird because every time, I just shut the engine off and everything is back to normal for a few weeks. This should be under warranty but I would like to know how this has been fixed before I go for my next service in November.

My taiight assembly on my 2018 was replaced in 2019, and it is again acting just as you describe. I'll have it at the dealer again soon for an oil change, and I'll have it dealt with then.

I bought my 2020 M240i new this spring, and have had that fast blink happen once, then it went away and has not returned.

It does store a code - in my case 804877 turn indicator, right rear, faulty.

As it has not happened again since, I'll just mention it whenever I am in for my first service.

The problem appeared about a few months after i got it from new and never came back for months. Now the frequency is about once every week.

intermittent fast blinking

I had this problem with my 2018 240IX. Maybe a month ago I happened to see a post that stated that this could be due to a coding problem. That is, if you have LED signals, but the car thinks that they are incandescent, it will think that there may be a problem with them because of the low voltage draw. So I opened Bimmercode, and I discovered that the front signals were set for LED, but the rear ones were not. I assume that this was just a programming oversight. I used Bimmercode to set the rear signals to LED, and I have not had the problem since.

I just had this happen for the first time 3-4 weeks ago in my 2019! It's happened maybe 2 or 3 other times since. Very intermittent. I'm going to take it to the dealer in September. I'll check the coding before then. Thanks for the tip ctemkin!

My 2018 LCI m240i has experienced this! I have had the right rear indicator/assembly replaced, but it has since crept up again intermittently…… Interesting to see others experiencing the exact same issue….

Interesting too to know it doesn't fix the problem. So, it seems that the programming for LED become the solution as somebody else posted.

So many hours in the service bay for this issue. Replaced harnesses and assemblies multiple times. Comes and goes infrequently. Gave up/ learned to live with it. 2018 m240 x

My 2018 M240i vert had problems with both tail lights, mostly the right and was getting more frequent. I would get an instrument panel warning that I had a rear turn signal malfunction. This seemed to appear randomly and would not reappear when I restarted my car. The dealer replaced both tail light assemblies early last year at no charge. The invoice said the harness and connectors were OK. The invoice did not list any service bulletin number. I've not had a problem since replacement.

I had exactly the same problems, they change the complete tail light housing and the problem was solved.

This just happened on my 2020 M240i Vert.

Hit the right turn signal, blinking at double speed and a message saying "Right Turn Signal Malfunction" Got out to see if I had a bulb out, but both the front and rear bulbs were blinking. Just twice as fast as they should. I hit the left turn signal and it blinked normal, but still had the cluster message saying there was a malfunction on the right side. When I hit the right turn signal, it was blinking normally again, but still with the message. Restarting the car cleared the error message.

Cars still under warranty, should I take it in?

Thanks!
