Although BMW says the transmission fluid is a "lifetime" fluid, ZF (the transmission manufacturer) recommends replacing the transmission fluid at 60k miles. I'm not aware that they have a time interval, but I drive more than most and don't have to worry about time intervals as I hit mileage first. I just hit 120k and plan on getting my car in for a 2nd transmission fluid replacement.
I've seen a guide posted here which recommends the following intervals: - Power Steering: 2 years / 50k miles - Transmission Fluid: 10 years / 60k miles

True, which is why I didn't mention having done it on my 240. But I wasn't sure about the 235 since the guide I mentioned was posted on this forum (although I should have figured since everyone complains about the lack of steering feel).

What is it really about the ZF transmission?
A friend of mine owned a 2017 340I from new with B58 engine with regular maintenance at the dealer but it has been in an accident at 60K. He bought a new Tesla. As per say, he was coming soon for an expensive maintenance but I don't know more. I can figure maybe spark plugs, filters...... Brakes? What really the dealer says about needed maintenance when in front of a one owner car with only 60K that has been completely serviced? Is Coolant and transmission really need to be serviced so early? I am just at 43K but I want to understand what I will really need to do at the right time without wasting money.

I sometimes have the same jerk from 1st to 2nd when just starting up. Mentioned it when I had my fluid changed and the y checked over everything and gave it a good bill of health. I think its just from cold engine, maybe runs a little higher rpms when warming up or something. Get it changed at 60-75K miles and let her eat.

This thread discusses the preventive maintenance schedule for an M235i:
https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=27767885 based on a survey of all the existing threads around what maintenance items should be done over the long term, in addition to the standard service items in the BMW official schedule. One of them is the ZF-recommended oil replacement at around 60K. This isn’t on the official BMW schedule, despite the fact that ZF clearly say it’s necessary. Here in the UK, no BMW dealer workshop will quote you for this - they’ll say it’s got a “lifetime oil” which is simply not true. Bear in mind it’s a non-trivial exercise to replace the oil and the oil itself is very expensive. ZF certify certain workshops to do the work and they’re the best people to ask to find your nearest one. Bear in mind that if you have a BMW Extended Warranty then this may be voided if you get the gearbox oil replaced, as it’ll mean you had work done by a non-BMW garage. My understanding is that it may be obvious to any BMW mechanic that the oil has been changed, so you may not get away with it if you had the car in for a repair or servicing. So you may have to make a decision as to whether you continue with EW if you want to do obvious preventive maintenance work.
