Trunk Won't Open (DIY Fix)

Hello all,

My 220d's trunk actuator failed and i cannot open the trunk.

Also i was not able to fold the rear seats, but with a lot of work, i figured a way to fold them with a stick, i will post the video there

https://youtube.com/shorts/Pb3ae6jDoPk?feature=share

Now, i can not find the emergency latch to open the trunk, maybe my trunk does not have it? I guess my car is Euro version, but clearly there is no latch here. Maybe European people does not lock people on trunks 🤔

Anyway, here is the foto inside trunk, do you guys have any idea how to open it? I tried to remove the black trim inside the trunk lid, but it is also impossible without opening the trunk.

Waiting for your ideas! Thanks

The latch is accessible. Have you tried using a flat screwdriver to flip it to the open position? If that does not work, remove the plastic trim under the trunk lid so you can unbolt the latch.

it is accessible but i dont know how do i open it, it is probably impossible or too much force needed because it is locked already.

i could not remove the plastic trim, i will try again but it is probably impossible to do without opening the trunk also

Update:

I applied force to lock with flat head screwdriver, did not open, broke some plastic parts of it, tried to open the trunk with its button, luckily it opened. Looks like i broke the lock completely, but it was not working anyways. Tomorrow i will buy a new lock and put it in.

Nice job getting things solved. This is such a stupid design. There should be a mechanical backup for when these electric parts fail.

There is a mechanical back up but it is only installed in delivery countries that routinely lock people in the trunk.
