The M235i is the best car I ever had, but one minute I love it and the next minute I'm sort of already bored by it. Envy for the M2 probably has something to do with that.

A major reason I'm looking at the Focus is that it could be my daily driver year round, like the Mustang was. I'd get to enjoy it every day. I know plenty of people on this forum use the 2 Series as a daily driver in all kinds of weather, but to me it's such a nice car that I have a problem subjecting it to snow, slush, salt, and even rain for that matter. Yes, I do have a problem...
Yes, you have a problem. Count me in the DD camp. DRIVE IT! Life is short. The Focus RS may be a great car but as you said, it's still a Ford Focus. I truly love my M235 Convertible, so I don't see how anyone could be happy moving from an M235i to a Focus. Okay, I am biased. I had the Ford Mustang GT on my list for a very brief time, but it was simply too big and too ubiquitous to stay on my list very long. My previous car was a MINI Cooper S that I really loved and at one time thought was the perfect combination of fun, performance and good fuel economy making it the perfect personal transportation choice, but there is absolutely no comparison between it and the M235i.

We all flirt with the thought of driving something different, but remember it's just flirtation and the grass isn't always greener.

Rolls-Royce Dawn, convertible is the only car I would want to replace my M235i convertible unless it's another M2xxi. I have £10K already saved, with trade-in, that's only another £260K to go ....

Then I'd have to move because my drive isn't big enough, nor is the garage. And really, it'd be better in somewhere more sunny like the South of France, so I'd have to buy a villa there ... so much expense. And I'd probably keep the M235i anyway for trips to the supermarket.

Hard to say. I bought my car and plan to keep it 7 years. The way things move in the auto industry it's hard to pick a specific car. It will be a quick and comfortable coupe or vert. What kind? I don't know. Probably a 4 series but I won't know till then

Next car: i8 unless there's a crossover between i8 and i3. Maybe i5? Will keep my 2er until I have enough saved (maybe 5 years)

It seems to me that the only option to get "more of the same" of the M235 is a 911. Maybe an S4, but I think that's too bloated compared to the driving characteristics of the 235. Sooooo nimble and quick.
