New 235, my impressions
Well other than getting rear ended on day 2, see this thread:
http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showt...4#post15608874 My initial impressions on my 235M. I had a S54 335 coupe prior to this, so used to having some HP under the hood, but this car definitely feels quicker. I've not really gotten on it much (trying to break her in) but was driving in Sport mode most of the day today with a big smile on my face. Really liking the steering, suspension and grip of the Michelin Super Sports, also liking the fact I'm no longer on run flats! The 6 speed manual is very precise, and the shifts are really short with no effort needed to go into the next gear. I had a 5 speed E46, and like it was mentioned in a another thread, sometimes you had to force it into 2nd. I have not experienced that in this gear box, and it reminds me exactly of the 1M I test drove a few months ago. The interior is really nice, looks very polished other than a couple of things (Plastic up front on central console). My only complaints are the lack of more advanced controls for the stereo thru iDrive. I played a CD today to see if I would get the album art that someone had posted, but all I got displayed was track 1, track 2, etc. I didn't get the Technology Package thinking I would get more advanced stereo controls due to the fact I did get Harmon Kardon, but apparently that isn't the case. There is another thread I started on Harmon Kardon that addresses that. Parking Assist and Back-up camera work fine, wasn't sure about this option but glad I decided to check that box Initial Grades Fun to Drive: A Styling: A (Loving the Mineral Gray and the wheel colors have grown on me) Comfort of driving: A (love the sport seats) Performance: A Braking: A Amenities: B- (due to the rather rudimentary options you get without Technology Package) I think I'd much rather have had no iDrive with the stereo options I had on my 335, than what I got with my set-up. But I believe driving this car daily will probably make my initial criticism of that fade, as it is so damn fun! |

In instrument cluster display? If so, it says BMW there prior to starting it. I thought the M235i was part of the enhanced display with Tech Package.
