My salesman called me today and said my car will finish production this week and should "be on the next boat out." Do we have any idea what the next boat will be? Can we begin tracking that yet?

BMWUSA is worthless. You should expect delivery in early March, not 4-1 (assuming you meant April 1). Sorry if the shipping schedule was unclear - European date format (backwards).

You leave on the Feb 7 boat, you reach the East Coast by Feb end. After that, it all depends on port-installation of options (if any), transit from port to dealer (?), and dealer detailing time (1-2 days).

Sorry dude, the dealers don't have much control over this process. The folks in Bavaria call the shots, and sometimes, we have to wait longer than expected. I know it sucks.

By "4-1" I meant "4 weeks minus 1 week" per that breakdown that's how long the transport process is. Early March is unacceptable for me. I planned for 2-3 weeks after their "mid-late January" estimation, but I can't wait until early-mid March. I'm currently using my work vehicle for personal use and I have to stop doing that in February. I can't go for over a month without a car. Very unfortunate, I really love these cars. Time to start making other plans.

Just a quick update...spoke to a person at the 800# today. According to her, the car arrived at the exit port today, but no ship assigned yet or dates. Assuming it will be the 7th if it's the WW line....however she did mention they also use K-Line and seems a bit harder to find possible dates on their website. Bottom line she didn't know so the wait continues.

Haha, thanks dude. I've filed a damage report with UPS and informed my seller. We'll see what they do. I don't expect a good outcome. That's this fucked up world for you.

Thanks, the news of the production starting kind of makes up for all the shit with the shipping of damaged parts.

Well based on the schedule from post above which I had not seen it looks like your car is on the Topeka....scheduled to the west coast on Jan 16

How long does it usually take bmw to transport the vehicle from the factory to port? I looked at the schedule and was wondering if my vehicle made it on the boat headed for Galveston on the middle of Feb. Production showed it was completed on Jan 25th on the website. So it's possible it was completed 2-3 days earlier.

Thanks bud ! Hopefully your wait for production start won't be as long as mine (19 days from order date).

I think it's all about how BMW prioritizes your dealer's order and also dependent on the configuration of the car. I read an interesting theory from someone here that BMW wants the convertibles out on the road sooner, so they're being given priority in the production queue.

Hang in there. Take advantage of your OTHER hobbies ! They will come to your rescue over the next 2-3 months

My car was finished around the same time as yours. Chances are, it'll head to the port of exit (Bremerhaven) soon and it seems like there's a ship that leaves on the 30th that goes to Galveston and a ship that leaves on the 5th as well. You'll be on one or the other I guess.

So called 800# this morning and found out car got on a ship Saturday. It's on the NYK Line....vessel name Equuleus Leader, scheduled into California Feb 27. Haven't really been able to figure out how to use their website tracking though. I did figure out you have to go to their RoRo site which is the car transport, to see the schedule. Anyway...just wanted to update a couple people on the thread who finished production in the last week or so.

At first I didn't even know about this possibility cause I went to NYK Line's regular website. I went back and checked their RoRo site (which seems to be completely different and doesn't offer tracking) and found the vessel. I also called the 800# to speak to a lady there who also let me know that my car is in transit. So looks like our cars are on the same ship Nuwheels.

I heard that the EPA isn't certifying the convertibles until either Feb 15th or March 17th? (don't remember the second date but someone on the forum said this) so there's a chance my car will just be sitting at the port until March either way. Good to know it's coming though
