New to 2 series BMWs
Hi all
Picked up a CPO 2014 M235i auto with only 12k miles, premium package, technology package and M aero a month ago and finally registered for this forum. I traded a 2016 mustang gt manual and I must say that this car has it beat in all aspects for me. It's hard to believe that with 100hp less the BMW feels quicker and on paper is at least as quick 0-60. Just wanted to say hello to the community. |

Beauty! Not sure where in AZ you are, but if you are at altitude up north the M235 may very well be quicker than your Mustang. Here in Denver Mustangs and Camaros have nothing for me at Bandimere raceway. I'll never go back to non-turbo as long as I live here.

Congrats and welcome abroad! How long did you have the Mustang and why did you decide to get rid of it?
Just curious. I looked at the Mustang briefly before buying my M235i. Nice looking car but I couldn't get past the interior.

Thanks, we are at about 1100 ft here but the coyote engine just doesn't start pulling until the Roma get up there so not nearly as much fun around town! Now it just have to keep the moding bug under control until the warranty expires😛. Haven't been successful yet and since ess is local I am really eyeing the ecu flash tune. JB4 seems good and almost got one when I had a Golf R but I like the idea of having the ecu tuned.

Had the mustang for prob 6 months. Just didn't like the fit and finish and ride quality. Also it sounds snotty but I hate seeing so many similar cars to mine. I even had a bright orange mustang and was driving by two of the same color each day. I have yet to see another m235 or m240.

Congrats! I almost pulled the trigger on a 2017 1ss 1le Camaro. Ended up with my 2017 M240i. Made the right choice.

No need to worry about modding with just a JB4 and an intake. I can have both off my car and ready for service in less than 20 minutes. Now I'm getting ballsy though, and thinking about adding a DP.

Thanks for all the positive messages. Been eyeing a JB+ for the past couple of days. Seems like a cheap bump in power. Figured that combined with something like Ista/d to check for codes would be a good combo.

Welcome aboard. Great car you have.
I traded my 2015 C7 Corvette for my M240i. Do not regret it one bit. I added the Dinan Stage 1 and I can say I'm feeling similar acceleration as the Corvette (at least to 60MPH). No big V8 rumble, but the BMW engine has a nice growl under power. As a side benefit, the Stage 1 also eliminated the slight hesitation you may experience in "Comfort" when starting off from a dead stop. "Comfort" now feels almost like "Sport" and "Sport" is to another level entirely. In my opinion having owned a number of Corvettes over the years, the C7 is the best Corvette GM has ever produced, but the A8 transmission is problematic. With spirited driving, it exhibits surging and bucking when returning to normal driving mode. GM has been replacing the torque converters, flushing the transmission, re-flashing, but problems persist (not just in the Corvette, but across their line w/ that same tranny). If you drove the car like a "Blvd Cruiser" (slow accelerations and controlled stops) it was fine. But rather defeats the purpose of owning the car IMO. W/ a perf car, you want to play a bit with it. It got to a point I didn't want to drive the car anymore. The M240, on the other hand, is a car I want to drive as much as I can. The 8 speed is a joy and displays wonderful characteristics (in sport mode) like engine braking, and crisp gear shifts. Everything you'd expect from a performance car. So good for you for making the trade. Hope you have many years of driving enjoyment. |
