Question about gearbox

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to figure out if this is a normal thing or it’s just my car doing it. So weather in comfort, sport from the button and sport form the shifter, the car always has too big of a kick/jolt going from 1st to second gear, but smooth as butter on the rest of the gears. What is your take on this?
Thanks in advance and drive with excitement!

Assume you are referring to a car with the AT and not MT?

I'll assume you're talking about the ZF8 and not the manual.

I don't experience what you describe, but I only drive in auto mode when the car is warming up and then switch over to Sport+ and manual mode.

No issues here either. Might try re-programming the driving characteristics of the car; can’t recall the steps but do a forum search.

Yes automatic and it does it any any of the modes I mentioned above, but I’m sure it does the same in eco(I’ll check) and sport plus which I don’t use much. Based on the way it shifts on the rest of them I suspect this as not being normal for a 20k mileage car or even a new car for that matter. Also forgot to mention this happens at normal driving as in not pushing the accelerator at all beyond what you’d push it in a parking lot. Waiting to see if others experienced/noticed this or it’s just me. Thanks all

If the car is cold when this happens, it is normal, my car does that all the time.

But if it shifts hard all the time in comfort mode and gear lever in normal mode, I would strongly recommend taking it to the dealer before any major components in your transmission breaks.

ZF (when warmed up) is one of the smoothest shifting auto's out there, should not be a jolt like you are describing.

Yes it does this even after driving 50-100 miles and I know about the jolt after startup if the engine is not properly warmed up. I suppose it could be something with my gearbox specifically.

Sounds like a trip to the service department is in order. You may need to do a ride-along with the service writer / manager to demonstrate what you are noticing. I have a MT, but I have driven loaners with the 8 speed ZF AT and agree it is a very smooth transmission - possibly the best 8 speed AT available in any vehicle right now.
