Question About Road Noise
Hey everyone, this is both my first convertible and my first car with run flats. With the top up, I feel like it is really loud starting at about 20mph (not from other cars and stuff, that I expected). It feels like it's from the tires, but wanted to get some other people's thoughts before I pay to get new tires. I'm coming from a 1 series with pss' and that car was MUCH quieter (and a coupe). Just not sure how much of it is the tires vs the convertible.
Thanks for any input! |

Also, check to be sure the car you drove has the rear of front fender sound insulation stuffers. There is a thread on this late-launch part. When added, it helped in my coupe and in others' with tire/road noise. http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1200964 If you are not particularly performance oriented, you can find much quieter tires in the Grand Touring category on Tire Rack like Pirelli Cinturato P7. But, it's like putting wing tips on an athlete. Among UHPAS, Conti DWS06 or Michielin Pilot Sport AS3+ combine lower noise with great performance. Finally, ask your salesperson to let you test drive a coupe, so you can compare bodystyle noise differences for yourself,
