I'm hit or miss with it but I've had my best luck applying full throttle steadily but swiftly. It seems like if you floor it, it cuts out right away. Sometimes I hit the sweetspot and the rears feel like soap, the tail kicks around and then comes back smoothly. Still other times, it hooks up and maybe chirps but doesn't go out.

I won't do it in the wet again until I practice in a lot. I had an interesting experience with counter steer needed leaving a circle after a light rain when I wasn't expecting the car to allow so much rotation.

Yeah, I'm probably a sissy about it. I rarely intend on trying to get the tail out. Tires only have 5,000 miles on them too. I guess I should say that for how I drive Sport+ isn't a problem.

Eco in heavy traffic, sport on curvy country roads and comfort in town and on interstate. I find myself driving in the country more often lately. :-)

Does ECO really help in heavy traffic minus the start-stop feature? I honestly find start-stop really annoying.

Comfort or Sport on daily commutes.. Sport+ on twisty roads that I know well and feel like hanging the back end out a bit.

Yes it does, it limits initial rpms for stop and go traffic, that is where it really shines to earn more MPG.

Do you ever get a "lurch" when upshifting? I noticed that in Sport+ when I test drove an M235i xDrive it would lurch between 2-3 and 3-4 when at 4-5k rpm and moderate throttle.

I have some high speed sweeper corners, off camber, on my way to and from work each day. I use sport+ because I can confidently go WOT mid turn, break rubber and gain control as it only allows a wee bit of slip. DSC off and my car will drift, Chris Harris style every time. I choose not to drift because I'm not totally confiedent with this car, yet.

DSC off = everything off, get ready. Sport+ is the safest way to have fun in this car, on public roads IMO

Not too sure what you mean by lurch but it's certainly got more aggressive shifting than comfort

As in - you get thrown forward and then back again. You're on the throttle, then the you shift and the car slows quickly as it shifts and then you're back on the throttle again

When it was my daily driver, I did DSC OFF for the better exhaust note and steering weight without the aggressive throttle.

Now that it's my auxiliary car with an exhaust upgrade, I have it in Sport+ on local roads and Sport (chassis only) on the highway.

You guys are making me jealous. I need to plan on a HPDE day some time to learn how to get the tail out a bit. As much as I try it just won't happen for me unless wet.

Go to an empty parking lot, DSC off mode, manual mode, 4000 rpm, , turn sharp, goose the throttle, it will slip!

I have a 6MT. Permanent manual mode I've actually been searching for empty lots, but my area is weird. There aren't any that are suitable for practice. :/

I am not a pro at Eco, so I never use it. Comfort when I drive my daughter to school in the morning. The rest of the time, Sport and Sport+ on twisty roads.
For some strange reason, the car feels tighter on Sport.

Sport, but with the drivetrain setting off.

Get the suspension and steering feel I like, but with better MPG.

I'll slap the shifter to the left when I need the extra throttle response (like merging, etc) and then put in back in D when no longer needed.

I use Sport+ when I want the extra pops, etc from the exhaust.

The only difference between Sport and Sport+ is DTC, no? I thought everything else was identical, including exhaust. Someone posted a nice chart a while back.

I'd recommend a time when nobody else is out making a left turn onto a wide road with no center median. Gives you plenty of room to mess up on both sides. As soon as you have the arc of the turn established (a little inertia outwards) press your foot down.

I drove DSC OFF in the rain and even snow with no issues. Just common sense and smooth inputs

In Sport+ you won't get it sideways, but you'll feel the back end movement before TC kicks in, maybe a hint of a tail happy car..

In DSC off mode, even without an LSD you should be able to get the back end out quite easily in lower gears/speed. If you have PSS's you may experience some inner wheel spin as the outside tire will have loads of grip, but if that's happening you just need the 'throw' the car out a bit more to shift the weight off of the outside wheel to allow some wheelspin.

Find some time and a safe place to test it out, where you can't go wrong.
