Speedometer

I noticed that the speedometer needle rests at slightly above zero when the car is not moving. More like 2.5 miles per hour. Has anybody else noticed this?

Probably because BMW intentionally makes the speedo read 2 to 3 mph higher than you're really going because they know better than you and your driving abilities.

I just checked, my car has the needle exactly in the middle of the line so it must be a "tolerance" thing.

Because this car is so fast it feels like it's moving even when you're parked.

I noticed if you check between: car off, car just ideling after being driven, and car just turned on after sitting - they all register a millimeter or so different. ( or if could just be me parallax )

I'm uploading using the iPhone so I am unsure if the photo will show. My needle points at the 0 mark, it somewhat appears to be lower even but it's on certain angles depending on how the seating position is.

Thank you! Yeah, when I had 2001km show on the dash I took out my phone just to take the picture & posted it on my facebook. Thanks you for noticing. I did mention that now my car is ready for some hooning, er hem, I mean some spirited driving.

Yup, you're right. 1200 miles. But I'm in Canada so that's equivalent to 2000 kilometers.
