I could be mistaken but I believe swapping to the black trim is a complicated and expensive ordeal.

You can always wrap it. I did it on my old e46. Pretty simple actually. Cant remember what product I used but it almost had an electrical tape feel to it. use a little heat (normal hair dryer works) and tuck it in. Looked great and can easily be removed. Stood up to power washing and Oklahoma heat too.

Yeah I'd do that if going down that path...

Wrap it. I had the chrome trim on a 2008 335i professionally wrapped and it looked great. It was only an hour or two of labor if memory serves. I provided the vinyl wrap I purchased on eBay.

Installed some new kidney grills! I had the chrome ones before and it just didn't seem to fit the car right. I figured since I am also going with the CF mirror caps at some point, I could have something else that matches with it!

Tried to clean all the junk off after my first track day at Watkins Glen. A new level of brake dust, for sure.

Great idea!

Although I picked a 3GT... The 2 has become my "fair weather friend"

I gotta tell you 2 cars is the BEST. Your GT partially inspired my latest purchase. The 2 will be reserved for times I'll actually enjoy driving it.

I never thought I'd enjoy driving a truck as a daily, but man does it ever make you appreciate the 2 series, lol

This really does enhance the "re-discovery" of the 2 each time you get back in! And, the GT or one of the Xs does have its set of attributes which can make other tasks easier, or just relieve the stress of heading to a dense parking lot at the mall!

So true! Even from the automatic 3GT, getting back in the 2 is a repeating joy!

I knew this from driving mom's Volvo occasionally but every time I think I need to give Dinan more $ I drive the truck - then back in the 2 it feels dangerous fast until readjust.

I have 2 garage spots and one guest spot in a shared lot. When looking for DD per SS point on parking I specifically wanted something that wasn't concours perfect. Instead of waiting for GF to be home I can even drive myself into the city and god forbid park on the street. X5 aka Der Panzer is a "zero shits given" type vehicle. I made a u-turn over a curb onto the sidewalk into a parking spot!

It will be just truck for 5-7 business days while I wait on Dallas Custom...

After 2 years of ownership, I added the MPerformance LSD on Monday. I'm still breaking it in, but HOLY HELL, what a difference. It feels like I've added a ton more traction on the back axle. It feels like the tires are substantially more sticky. It's quite astonishing the difference, even in the most normal of driving. On a sweeping turn, transitioning from off throttle to moderate throttle instantly results in the car/steering wheel turning harder and harder into the turn. I've never felt an LSD do this before. The car just feels a ton more stable. It's awesome.

My dealer price matched the best online offer I found (Sun Motors BMW) for $1,950. It was 3.5 hours to install (BMW book time) plus $50 for about a 3/4 pint of extra diff/LSD fluid (they checked and found the diff slightly underfilled). All in, it was about $2,700 with tax. Yeah, crazy expensive.

If you're a car guy and really in tune with the way a car feels and are comfortable pushing the car a bit on the street (when it's safe of course) and you plan on tracking/auto-x, it's a great mod. For many, they probably won't feel the difference or really use it. Even at 4/10ths driving I can tell it's there and working it's magic.

The car is wicked in DSC Off now.

Darn you! I'd basically talked myself into thinking "hey you don't really need the LSD ... at least not right away, maybe not at all" and you had to go and post THIS!!!

Haha seriously it's appreciated to see feedback like this to help decide if upgrades like this are worth the cost. Once they start to add up, I have to start asking "I could have just got a M2"

Well, I was estimating somewhere around $2,500, so this came pretty close.

I don't suppose you had a chance to weigh the two units? I'd be very interested in noting the weight difference.

Hey, congrats on finally getting it! It DOES make all the difference in the car's handling, and in the driver's enjoyment and confidence.

I did not weigh them. Both differentials use the same exact cast iron case or "pumpkin". I can't imagine the LSD one weighing more than 10lbs than the open unit, if that.

The LSD is a 3 clutch lock-up with 30% lock-up on acceleration and 9% on deceleration. Pretty ideal for street driving and moderate track use. The LSD is built for BMW by Drexler, an Australian company known for making some of the best LSDs for racing. It's a very high quality piece.

Yeah, when I ordered my 2016 M235, I knew the M2 was coming within six months. I knew the price was somewhere in the low to mid $50K range, but also knew the mark-ups would be nuts for the first year (they were, most going for $60K-70K).

With my current mods (car is about as quick as an M2) and price paid, I've spent about $50K on the car and mods. I'm incredibly happy with it and view it as M2 Light. I probably have a couple more grand I want to spend on mods and I'm fine with that. I absolutely love the car and it's blend of sport, rawness, luxury, and elegant/sporty/aggressive looks. It turns heads and creates thumbs up daily.

With that said, if I totaled the car tomorrow, I'd get a slightly used white M2. No doubt. I love them.
