Actually that was originally Justin's offer as well, so I went with Robert Grass at Valencia BMW for $1000 over ED invoice + MSRP options (still a decent deal).

A few days later, Justin called me to inform me that the M235i is no longer out of dealer's allocation (unlimited ED allocation), and that he can beat the other offer. And hence, the next day I went to NC BMW to put my deposit down on the car. That same day, another memo was released, indicating that the ED M235i is restricted to 1 extra allocation per month per dealership... So I guess I must have lucked out.

A few weeks later, the ED client adviser from Monrovia BMW finally calls me back and gave me a really good offer, pretty much the same as NC BMW. He was really nice. If I hadn't already gone with Justin, I would have gone with him. I tried looking up his name on the Monrovia BMW site but nothing rings a bell. He claimed to have lived in Germany? Anyways, there's definitely deals to be found in SoCal, albeit not plentiful.

Justin was very efficient and a pleasure to work with. He was very reassuring when my car was stuck in VPC hell. He answered all my questions and concerns, no dodging. I would definitely go back to him for my next car.

Well that's cool. I was shopping later into the year and the usual suspects were not budging on price for ED. Santa Barbara was though.

Hey all, how many days before ED pickup does a car go into production?

About 2.5-3 weeks before. IIRC, my pick up date was May 27th and my vehicle was finished on the 12th or so (about 2 weeks before pick up date).

If you are still looking, I would recommend contacting David Aviles (bmwdavid@icloud.com) at Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo, CA, a call. He will be able to fix you up with a great deal.

I was under the impression that ED orders don't count against dealer allocations. Is this not correct?

That is sometimes the case but not always. On limited production models and new models they still come out of dealer allocation.

btw while David gets a lot of praise around here for the best deals (and deservedly so) his assistant katie deserves her share of recognition also. she has handled all of my requests, concerns and last minute modifications with a customer service oriented mindset that cannot be beat. so kudos to katie.

Please rate my ED quote!

Hey guys, was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a quick look at my ED quote.

This is for a 2015 M235xi. 3 year lease, 10k miles/yr. Sales tax here is 7.275% (rolled it into my payments). By my math (I'm using 0.0016 MF and 61% residual), the dealer is making about $780 profit, but I'm not sure if I did that right.

$53,410 US MSRP
$48,480 Price for ED

So using the ED Price of $48,480, I then rolled in the following items into price:acquisition fee ($950), taxes and title/registration (assuming about $400). He quoted me an estimated monthly payment of $680/month.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

EDIT: FYI, I've reached out to David Aviles, but haven't heard back yet

Do you pay tax on full MSRP? I'm getting about $650 a month. A $30/month discrepancy is $1000 difference in price. Double check what rates they are quoting you, residual and MF.

Send a PM to Golffrr to see if he can reach out to David on your behalf. Let him know you've sent an e-mail requesting a quote for ED on the car. David is super busy I imagine.

As luck would have it, the dealer just called me. He said he's using 61%, 0.0020 MF (he claims it's 0.0016 and BMW is marking it up to 0.0020 b/c it's ED, but I know it's 0.0013 marked up to 0.0016 for ED from the forums so he's squeezing 0.0004 out of me), $925 acquisition, and $46480 invoice (so he's also getting $2k more).

I don't know if I pay tax on the full MSRP. I think it's on the selling price, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah, I was going to give David until later this afternoon. Then I was going to ping Golfefrr if I hadn't heard by the end of the day.

EDIT: Using the lease Excel worksheet from another thread on this forum, I got to the $680 number by using 0.0020 MF, 61% residual, leaving out the title/registration fees, and having tax calculated off cap cost and rolled into payments. Got $680.56.

I believe acquisition is $725 base and that seems to be marked up. MF is marked up by BMWFS for ED but only 0.0003 above base, so 0.002MF is indeed a markup. I'd be fine with the acquisition markup - $200 doesn't bother me, but MF markup no.

If David can get you an allocation, I'm sure he will beat that.

hyperzulu, thanks for the responses. I read on these forums that acquisition is now $825 for 2015. But in general, I agree with you, marking that up $100-200 is less important than marking up the MF. I also think this dealer marked up ED Invoice too much ($2000).

Considering that 235 are still coming from dealer allocations $2000 over ED invoice isn't bad. They could probably do a little better (maybe $500 more) but it's very close to right. Once it's no longer coming from the dealers you'd be able to see $600 over ED invoice.

A few CAs are getting some from the ED pool and are willing to do those deals now. My deal was $1k over ED invoice.
