When does the VIN get assigned?

The Track My BMW section on MyBMW webpage shows that the production had ended for the vehicle and it is ready to ship. But I don't see any VIN mentioned anywhere? Where do I find the VIN, and how do I start tracking the shipment?

TIA!

You can talk to an operator on the 1800 number. They were more informed than my CA.

Second question - how long after the purchase order number registers did it usually take to see the website update to "in production?"

It took a few weeks from the order date for me to get "in production" the website is usually a little behind the 1800 has more information and if you speak to someone they can walk you through step by step with dates and everything. I ordered my car on Aug 16 and was told it was set for production with no date until out of the blue last Monday it was in production a week ahead of time, my CA originally told me it wouldn't be in production until this upcoming week sometime. It's really unpredictable with this type of stuff.

it depends on your allocation...

if your allocation is for November it won't show till then no matter if you bought it on April or October.

You should ask your dealer what is your allocation month and your production week.... if they don't know it's cause they probably lied to you and they don't have an allocation yet for you and they just put you on the list for when they get one
