Delay between VIN assignment and production starting?

Hi all, first time poster here.

I placed an order for an M235i on August 2nd and got a call from my CA on the 15th that my car had been assigned a VIN. However my car hasn't started production yet. Is it normal for there to be a delay like this between VIN assignment and the car starting production? This is my first new car ever, and the wait is already killing me XD

I was told that my VIN would be assigned roughly 1 week before production would begin.

I got my VIN about 4 days before production started. In production now with September 1 finish date.

So mine went into production... is there a place on the bmwusa website that shows the VIN?

Try removing it from your list of vehicles, log out, then log back in and re-add it with the production number. On the confirmation screen it will show the VIN.

I heard that BMW shuts down for the last two weeks in August. Anyone else heard of this?

BMW must have read this post and decided to get their act together, because I got the call from my CA last night that my car started production lol.

Bmw production was likely on pause or at least slowed from 11-22 Aug due to summer vacation time. Almost everything here slows down during the month of August. It is just the time when everyone gets vacation time.
