More drunk but still better drivers than Tesla owners

“BMW drivers have the highest DUI rateby a wide margin. BMW drivers had 3.13 DUIs per 1,000 drivers — nearly twice the rate of DUIs among Ram drivers (1.72), the next-highest ranking auto brand. On the other end, Mitsubishi (0.89), Volvo (0.92), and Mercury and Kia drivers (both 0.93) had the lowest DUI rates. Just nine of the 30 brands analyzed had DUI rates below 1.00 among their drivers.

Across 30 car brands analyzed, Ram has the worst drivers. Nationally, Ram drivers had 32.90 driving incidents (accidents, DUIs, speeding and citations) per 1,000 drivers from Nov. 14, 2022, through Nov. 14, 2023. Tesla (31.13) and Subaru (30.09) were the only other brands whose drivers had incident rates above 30.00.

There is no excuse for driving drunk, if you are going to be drinking call an Uber. End of discussion.

The right answer is zero alcoholic drinks if planning to drive.

So even when drunk, BMW drivers still drive more safely than Ram drivers?

(Not recommending that anyone should try and find out!)

Don't look at Ram 2500 drivers, it's 45.3 per 1000. Quite a bit more than the numbers listed. 2nd was Chevy S-10 (do they still make those?). 3rd was 4 series BMW. https://driving.ca/auto-news/news/ra...ers-u-s-report (article from 2021)

I thought this article had some interesting statistics and made me speculate about possible associations. Volvo drivers having low incidents and DUIs is hardly surprising. Age, demographics, etc. Just odd that BMWs had such a disproportionate number of DUIs. It’s not youth or money alone, I wouldn’t think. Maybe it has to do with the likelihood of getting pulled over or doing stupid stuff. I also wonder if Teslas having high accident rates has to do with a lot of hp and tech coupled with inexperienced drivers. And just to make clear, the title was not meant to suggest that anyone should drink and drive.
