Track Edition has no sunroof and no power seats! Equalling about 90 pounds of weight reduction.

Here's another shot of her at home -

Based on my experience sitting in a 228 with a sunroof, the " track edition " is needed for those 5'10" and over that plan to take the car on track. I have a 30" inseam for reference.

The combination of power seats and sunroof eliminate a lot of headroom. I bumped my head on the ceiling on a test drive with no helmet.

Good call. Great looking car.

Front end looks better than the way over styled "origami" look of the M2!?

LOVE this car!

My sister in Calgary is currently negotiating for a Track Edition in Black Sapphire.

Her car also had the 18" wheels when she test drove it, but already had the rest of the M Performance add ons installed. I find that weird that they would send out a car with brand new standard parts, only to replace them once the M Performance ones come in?

Congrats. Great pictures!

What he said! This Track Edition may be the way I would go since I am underwhelmed by the fangs on the front end of the M2...

Just thought I share my M235i xdrive as well...haven't decided on wheels yet, but will definitely be doing Dinan S2. Will most likely do square setup on wheels and stay with 18". The car was special ordered last November and delivered March this year. Only options were 8 speed, HK sound and moonroof delete. Interior are all M Performance parts. Have the car for 8 months already and only has 1150 miles on it.

Don't know if I'm accurate here, Rizzaman, but as a huge fan of the old E90 335is, I say great vision.....great plan.....and since it has pretty much come together quite well - great work on your part. I love that car, too!

Appears to me that you have - in a sense - taken one step backwards to the lighter & more nimble 2-Series......but two steps forward - from base 235i to a spec that may be one step beyond a 235is, if there was one. But also, in a sense, you have been a very bad boy with that devious, evil genius-like, plan.

I mean, with the weight reduction and those specially selected M-performance bits?? You weren't muckin' around, dude. Think about it:

Looking closely at your work, the result is clearly a half-step beyond a current 235i M-sport version, but merely a half-step shy of an M2. Simply because - while the 335is may have been considered M3-light, don't recall it truly being as track-focused as that little badass motherf.....excuse me.....car you've put together. Hell, throw in an ECU reflash (unless I missed that), and you're even closer.

Does all that make any sense? Well, either way, you are still DA MAN!!.....regardless of whether I can give you props in a coherent manner.

Whoa....hold on. You talkin' about this Dinan S2, CA-guy? (I know what other one, right?)

Uh-oh. Combined with X-drive? Yikes!!! M2s, beware. Another devious & dastardly plan is the works.

I mean much respect to you and your future Dinan mods; could not have thought up a better plan myself.

To be clear, you are putting together a machine that - in my my view/for my money - is more desirable than an M2. Dollar for dollar, your car will equal a better car for (I think) essentially the same or less money; why pay the M2 premium? (Watch....Bimmerpost Trolls will jump all over that last sentence. Bring it on )

OK, CA-guy. So after Dinan S2 is done, personally, I'm thinking you're all set for power. Look at the torque #s! I've only got 443 in the C63 and while I get 370 @ 2,000 rpm and about 400-410 @ 3,000, I'm a 4,040 lb. pig.........with power to the rear only. Guessing you might put an ass-whuppin' on my supposedly big & bad AMG.

My G35? Not even close; I'd quickly be a mosquito in your rear view mirror.
  • YOU: "Where the (bleep) did he go? He just disappeared into the horizon." (As you're flooring it.)
  • ME: "I need a Stillen-Vortech supercharger. This 280HP/270 lb-ft ain't doin it."

Now, wanna upgrade some suspension pieces - Eibach springs some + Tokico shocks maybe - that won't cost much more..........assuming it's even needed. Knowing BMW, the stock chassis should be stout enough, but it all depends. Gonna be doing track days? Just want a street vehicle that can whup-ass (as described)?

Either way, your call and I'm confident you will nail it. So, looking forward to hearing about and seeing your finished product. Rock on.

Right on BRBM ...looking forward to the mod very soon (next month). Not sure if I want to do any suspension mod, if so I'd go with Dinan spring set and handling kit. As for the square setup, going with 235/40/18 on Michellin PSS.

Nuff said. You clearly have everything under control.....not to mention, you'll be sticking to the road & track quite nicely on those Michelin Pilot Super Sports!!

See, people, this cat knows what's up! MmmmmHm.

Also coded the car to have euro headlights which turns off the yellow side blinkers when the headlights are turned on.

LOL at origami. Others call them Fangs in the front ... And I agree...I think they are kinda overdone on the M2.

Of course BMW is probably trying to get away from the current trend of putting big honking air inlets on the front of a vehicle all the x5m, and all the current Mercedes models and many Porsches as well.

I have to say that i honestly prefer the front bumper cover of the M235 myself. Personally never been a fan of the rear of any of the 2 series .. The taillights just don't do it for me nor does the rear trunk opening.

The M2 rear bumper has some very odd multiple angles and lines where the cover meets the wider quarter panel. I like that they did flare the quarters but the conversion from 135 to 1M is amazing. The conversion from the rear of the M235 to the M2 to me actually looks more beefy but overall it looks worse.
