Experience with Carbon Fiber Look Vinyl Wrap?
Got an M235 in mineral grey on order, should be here in a few weeks. Been looking at carbon fibre mirrors, lip spoiler, rear diffuser (if/when avail). I'm not sure I'll love the look and leasing so don't want to dump a ton on cosmetic mods.
Soooo... Anyone consider or have experience w "carbon fibre" vinyl wraps? Rear diffuser w heat from exhaust I'd be concerned about wear, more so than the mirrors or spoiler. Worst case scenario I'd view this as a try before buy on M performance parts. |

get aftermarket parts.. vinyl looks cheap and poseurs.
For example, mirror replacements can be had for ~120. Spoiler for ~200. BMW performance parts are almost double or triple the price!

I have nothing against wrapping though, I have seen many gloss black vinyl roofs and they look great! I do like wrapping the interior with CF fabric, because it at least has the feel. Vinyl is generally just flat

Depends what you want to do in the CF. Some parts are better off wrapped while others should just be replaced with CF parts

You can get some of these carbon fiber options installed at the port. If you are leasing, having it included as a port installed option would save you money, also no labor costs involved. Contact your client advisor for adding these options on before it hits VPC.

Check out my garage for a carbon fiber wrapped roof. Sorry it's only a 135i but you'll get the idea. I have the Carbon fiber Performance spoiler and rear diffuser as well.

I actually wrapped my roof rack and rails with carbon fiber. IMO it looks great! the most challenging part was the bike racks, because of their contoured extrusion.

I have never liked CF wrap. It photographs fine, but it just doesn't have the same depth as carbon fiber in person. On the upside, if you don't like it you can remove. I would vote for matte or gloss black.
For mirrors, I would just go for BMW performance or aftermarket. Odds are few people will be able to tell the difference between the two. |
