So, if you code out ASD, you will get more road noise.
I do not believe there is any active noise cancellation in ASD on our F22s. My cabin is very noticeably quieter with the ASD bypass harness installed.

To each his own, some like it and some don't but why didn't BMW give us the option to turn it off (or on) via the iDrive menu???

I've not had the ASD turned off or removed, so I don't know how quiet it would be. Glad you guys were able to turn it off. Wished I have the gumption to do it. One day, I'll bite the bullet and do it.

Quick test

It's simple to turn the ASD off for a trial run- pull the stereo fuse and take it for a test drive. I was quite surprised how much active sound there was in my m235i but even more so how much I liked the sound!

It's an easy install- 20 minutes? Admittedly the engine noise is quieter than I'd like without ASD. With music playing up sometimes you can't hear the engine rev at all even under hard acceleration

I just got into a '15 235i and was pleasantly surprised how natural sounding the engine was in the cabin. There is a slight increase in noise when in sport modes, but not over done like others. That inline 6 doesn't need much help, lol.

The shotty part about ASD is that it makes artificial "NVH" sounds, too, if that makes sense. Ever since installing my coilovers I've left the car in comfort for the lighter weighted steering, and it's a pleasant surprise how much quieter everything is. The DSC off setting pipes the RPM/Exhaust note as well as the fake NVH, and I never really noticed until I started driving daily in Comfort mode. As soon as I put it in DSC off mode, you hear the increased tones and NVH, it's hilarious. Can't wait to have it coded out, completely, the exhaust sounds SO much better, and natural.

Mpg is a lot worse: 17-19 in city 20mpg if u drive very calmly on hi way
