To each his own, some like it and some don't but why didn't BMW give us the option to turn it off (or on) via the iDrive menu??? |

Quick test
It's simple to turn the ASD off for a trial run- pull the stereo fuse and take it for a test drive. I was quite surprised how much active sound there was in my m235i but even more so how much I liked the sound!

I just got into a '15 235i and was pleasantly surprised how natural sounding the engine was in the cabin. There is a slight increase in noise when in sport modes, but not over done like others. That inline 6 doesn't need much help, lol.

The shotty part about ASD is that it makes artificial "NVH" sounds, too, if that makes sense. Ever since installing my coilovers I've left the car in comfort for the lighter weighted steering, and it's a pleasant surprise how much quieter everything is. The DSC off setting pipes the RPM/Exhaust note as well as the fake NVH, and I never really noticed until I started driving daily in Comfort mode. As soon as I put it in DSC off mode, you hear the increased tones and NVH, it's hilarious. Can't wait to have it coded out, completely, the exhaust sounds SO much better, and natural.
