I want to take the trip up to BMW welt and see it. Wonder if they do a viewing area or tour of the factory itself where they build cars.

Spoke to BMW Genuis this morning. They're saying that no 2017's are being released from port until an as yet to be decided date, is decided. Apparently BMW will decide this when they, errrr, decide it.
So, this kinda sucks as I was hoping for delivery in the next week to 10 days. It really jacks up my plans for vacation. Not happy

For waht it's worth, I was told by BMW Genius that they expect CarPlay to be wireless. It's all speculation until one of us gets our car. My m240i is aboard the Tomar, ETA to Baltimore port on 8/25. |

I find this hard to believe... why would they SHIP the vehicle from the German port only to sit and wait around in the US. However if they said they are not releasing any more 2017 from the German port, yes that would be a bit more understanding. anyway I try not to get worked up over speculation.

I spoke to a BMW Genuis supervisor and although she has no idea why it's on hold she said the code attached to it is a "Diagnostic" code. So, makes me think it's a Software/Engineering issue.
FWIW, I'm also belong to a Facebook page for 2 series owners and even F80 owners are experiencing their order cars being held at port. So, It may just be an EPA cert issue.

Finally got ahold of my CA. He confirms it's an EPA thing for emissions and to expect a 4-6 week hold until certification....

Searching these forums it looks like some 2017 B series engine cars have been port held since as early as mid July. Perhaps the 4-6 week timeframe is accurate but has been running for 4-5 weeks? Odd that this seems to be a relatively undicussed topic, perhaps because it only occurs when new engines/drivetrains come out. Not cool in any event.

The F87 forums also have something similar where the EPA certification was done but BMW held the cars even longer after that so that allegedly could release the first round of cars to US dealers at the same time. I don't know if the same will happen here, I haven't read anything about an official release date to the US but it could also happen. Fun times!

Well this all sucks. I'm hoping that it doesn't hit my delivery to the german dealer over here (US Spec car, delivered to german dealer).
