I picked up a set of 335 17s, plan on running 225/45/17 with 18mm spacer on the rear and 15mm on the front. The wheels clear the calipers pretty well (5mm), but for added insurance against stones I decided to add the spacers.

15mm spacers on 335i wheels will put you at roughly et 15... The wheels will still very far outside your fenders

Yeah perhaps I need to revise my order down to 5mm, the wheels are ET34 17x 8's for some reason I thought they were 7's and the wheel wouldn't stick out that much. I already test fit and they poked out a bit but I'm probably going too far.

I was looking on tirerack and they are saying that 16"s will fit the 2015 228i xdrive without the M brakes. Has anyone tried? I live in a big snow area and would love to have the extra sidewall for the snow.... Any thoughts?

I have the RWD 228 without M brakes. I tried a set of 17" and they fit but had very little clearance to the front calipers, so I doubt 16" will fit. Base 228's come with 17" so I guess it is OK. I ended up buying 18" off a 135i to make sure I had clearance.

What tire pressure do you set your winters too?
I have a square setup 17 inch. I have staggered for summer setup. Car sticker says 32 psi front and 38 psi rear. I wouldn't think that would be correct for the square setup winter tires.

Used on my 3 series touring [ski trips to Europe] and now on F20 M135i - very good.

+1 for TS380. It's the tires BMW uses in the cold weather package paired with the style 380 wheels. It's available in Canada and Europe, but not in the US. I got a chance to use it when I did ED earlier this month.
