BMW 2 Series Coupe (228i) Spotted. First in the US

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
F22 2 Series coupe (228i) prototype spotted in SoCal. First prototype sighting in the US.

Admin edit:

The M235i coupe (315 HP) is already confirmed for the US (see VIN details and spy photos). Production will begin in November 2013 in the Leipzig plant, for an 8 month first-model-year production run (until June 2014). There will be no 235i model in the US or elsewhere, as the M235i will take its place in the lineup.

The M235i will be joined by the 228i coupe in the US. The 228i coupe will also begin production this November. The production 2 Series will be revealed in the Fall, with its public debut potentially coming at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show in September).

As the VIN thread linked above shows, Europe will see additional models, including a 220i, 225i, 218d, 220d and 225d.

I'll agree to disagree, as I think it's the new 428, judging from the roof-line and how the overall shape of the car resembles the F30 sedan IMO. Could be wrong though. Hard to say with all of the camo.

Not a chance it's the 428i. Look at the wheel base proportional to the driver. Since the 4er shares the F30 wheelbase, there is not a chance you could fit an extra set of doors in there.

More importantly, the outline and proportions look near-identical to the current 128i.

Wheels aren't the low profile and fat ones, exhaust is standard and not high performance....those are just a couple reasons.

Size definitely looking close to the E46. Might have to say goodbye to the 3-Series and look forward to the 2-Series.

Yes, but as the spyshots have shown (see compilation), the M235i (which will replace the 135i) has split dual exhausts. Leaving the 228i as the model with twin exhausts on one side.
