you could take some satin clear spray paint to the glossy one. satin sprays pretty evenly and it would look like it came that way. I had a body shop do it with real auto paint to a spoiler on my racecar because I didn't like the wet look.

So, applying this satin clear spray will "darken" it?

you def need a trim pry tool. Getting it back in was slightly difficult as I think I bent it a little when taking it out. Gently bent the arms back towards the wheel a little then placed it back and it went in fine. There are two little nibs on the top that have to REALLY be pushed in and pressure maintained as you put the rest of the clips in down to the bottom.

Many thanks for these details man, I see it's kind of difficult and I should be careful if I do it.

I doubt the "weight saved" is anything to worry about
I think I am going to wrap the piece on my steering wheel as well. Can you share where you bought your CF vinyl?

Apart from the paddle shifter... Is the m3/4 steering wheel the same as the m235i one?

It looks the same to me but rw carbon also sells that carbon trim said its not compatible.

Love the carbon interior, looks like you mean business.

I chose to stick with more contrast and added the Mechunik alumium handbrake cover. Matches perfectly with the steering wheel trim, automatic shifter and shifter base.

Does anyone know if there is a carbon fiber trim piece to replace the black plastic part that the aluminum (or the carbon fiber piece the op is asked about) trim piece fits into? I like the look of the aluminum, but the surrounding black plastic looks kind of cheap in comparison.
