Is this with a 2-series?
Are you saying the flap swings upward toward the engine and not down toward the ground ?

The flap should be flexible enough to twist up or down beyond its CLOSE position.

The belly pan does come off (2-Series) and at least in mine the belly pan needs to be rotated to drop down once unscrewed.

yes just stick a screw driver and pull it out... it's just a piece of hard carpet
You can attach a piece of tape hanging down so next time you just can pull from the tape

What oil do you guys use? I've only 9k miles and had 2 BMW oil changes done already due to duration.

I run the car hard so wanted to know how often you guys change the oil and what oil you use.

So far, I've been using whatever the dealer put in. However, in the past, I've used Rotella T6 in my N54 and M54 as well as in my EVO.

Do you guys think Amsoil OE, Total Quartz, Mobil 1 0W-40 Euro (only Mobil FULL synthetic), and lubromoly offer better protection than the BMW oil?

Do you think Rotella T6 is comparable?

Thanks!

I know im going to get flamed for this but i do it every 6000km. in Canada, oil changes by bmw is every 12k. So i just go to my mechanic halfway for an oil change. Cost me 35$ if i bring my own oil, they supply bmw filter. Cheap insurance imo

My 2016 m235i does not have the door to get to the oil drain bolt. Hmm

$6 is cheap metal vs aluminum and you have to add shipping no? Those wrench might not apply even pressure when you torque it...result in premature oil filter housing gasket wear. Just my 2 cents

But whatever works
Mobil 1 dropped BMW ff-01 i believe. Walmart sells Castrol Edge 0W-40 Euro Formula in 5qt containers. It meets the necessary requirements. This is what i've been using since last change .

I'd just like to bump this and say that the drain plug is definitely 25 NM, I just checked rheingold.

Surprisingly, resetting the CBS is a piece of cake. I used this video (no affiliation).

Getting ready to do my first oil change in a few months. Do we have to drain the oil cooler or does it drain when the plug is pulled? I haven't seen detail about this anywhere.

Maybe it is presumed by two oil changes you would have circulated and flushed out what was left in the oil cooler, but this might be particularly helpful for people that track their car.
