AWRON Digital Gauge Teaser for my M235i - Display temps (and more)

While I was at EAS (European Auto Source) the other day getting things coded, Tom and I got to discussing the issue with the M235i and it not having a temperature gauge, which I know has bothered many people here (including myself). Coding wasn't something that could solve that problem, unfortunately, and the debug menu is a pain to get to every time. Luckily, Tom happened to have an awesome digital OLED gauge from a company in Germany named AWRON that basically sits in the center A/C vent (the left one) and can display all sorts of information on the car with a touch of a button on the steering wheel controls. Considering that I plan on doing quite a bit to the car and tracking it, this would be a no brainer for me since I'll be able to monitor temps, boost, etc, while on the track and just daily driving in general. I will be getting mine installed sometime this week, so I'll be sure to post up more about it for anyone interested!

Check out this video of it in action (not on my car):

this is an awesome gauge.
alot of people seem to not be happy about it using up the drivers main center vent.
the P3 gauge can also do oil temp, but obviously looks nowhere near as fancy as this.
p3 is also $350 not $1000ish.
i personally would get it over P3 but not at that pricepoint

The choice in positioning is critical, as it's towards the most centerpoint POV of the vehicle - where your eyes would be while driving, and not towards the door.

The AC units in most model vehicles are pretty efficient nowadays, you would barely tell a difference. The Awron displays are not for everyone, but for those that want the best - its good to know there are options.

I think it only gives coolant temp, but not oil temp. Can someone with a P3 confirm?

bernstem - I have been looking into a new P3 vent gauge for the M235i (had one on my previous 1 Series = was great. However, this generation did not have oil temp). I enquired if a new one would have oil temperature. P3 says yes -the gauge with oil temp it is currently in the "beta" stage of development (ie nearly ready to put out for sale on their website)
You can purchase the gauge with the beta oil temp software if you specify it to them. Upgrades are free when it is in beta.

I read they were working on a software update to support oil temp. Much more simple display but for less than 1/3 the price that's what I'd go for.

If the P3 can display oil temp without beta software, it will be hard for me not to buy it. Until then it is a no-go.
