M235i - 2014 vs 2015 to wait or not to wait?
I assume the 2015's will be available for order sometime in July. So for only waiting 3 months to order, I get a new model year with perhaps more color options, other goodies, possibly a lower price because supply should have caught up by then and better resale. Of course I will miss out on the great experience of driving the car for 3 months but is there any other reason not to wait?

I would have waited if our current car didn't have a shot tranny and falling apart. Mostly to get Xdrive. Though waiting just a couple months is killing me already and it's only been 3 weeks.

Of course there are those that hypothesize that due to demand the price might actually go up...

You may find by then dealers may (or may not) be more willing to provide a discount and make a deal. That also depends on factory incentives which are hard to predict. But I can almost guarantee that the MSRP itself will not go down.

Might want to talk to a dealer about taking one of their build slots now if you want a MY15. If buying would be good to go that route. Aside from xDrive and hopefully some more color options I don't think there's anything on the horizon. I wouldn't count on a ton, not worth pissing off the 2014 guys and we've known about xDrive for quite some time. Comfort access might work by then.

I think you will have a few extra factory options you can check off the order for MY15. I suspect there will be a $1500-$2000 increase in price given how everyone is loving this car in the press.

What I suggest you do is put $1k down to get a build slot in July. Then negotiate your best price. If rates change in the mean time you can take better financing. Your other option on the complete opposite end of the spectrum is if nothing in my15 is super compelling to you and you are fine w a dealer spec car you could prob swing a sweet deal on a my14 "leftover" in sept. End of month, end of quarter, new model out. My15 will hit US august-ish. Just get your deposit on the my15 back and be on your merry way. |

Well you can't negotiate until you know pricing, unless they'll somehow come up with some loose numbers based on MY2014 and apply similar logic to MY2015. That said there's nothing that says you need to take their deal. If their deal is great once pricing is announced take it, if not get your deposit back and shop around. Will only cost you a month assuming you're not dying to get a car ASAP. You're probably a month or two away from pricing anyhow.

Nothing in ATL sorry. If you're more price sensitive than time sensitive, put deposit down with Dealer A. Get their best price once pricing is announced. Call everyplace within a day's drive. Get the best price you can. Call Dealer A back and say, "I want to work with you but you've got to beat this." Either way you'll be sure you're getting the best price you can, maybe you'll luck out and get it a little sooner.

You can try negotiating invoice+ pricing on a MY15, but I think most dealers are not going to be interested in that with the current perceived demand. The real question is how much is going to change? With the relatively short run of MY14s, I personally wouldn't bet on significant changes other than some possible new color and wheel choices.

You don't need a dealer within a couple of hours of Atlanta. You're about 2.5 hours from Spartanburg so you can order from any dealer in the US and do Performance Center Delivery there at no extra charge.

BMW has hinted in a few interviews (albeit indirectly) that rev matching is coming on the manual at some point. Would love to see it for MY15 but it doesn't seem likely.
