Leather should be standard, or sensatec free!

I think many people would be happy to just stay with 228i, I know I am.
240 hp and 260 lb ft of torque, 35 mpg highway in a nimble relatively lightweight chassis? What's not to like?! 10 years ago this was how the 330i performed which was just under the M3 in terms of performance.

I wonder if the less weight up front from the engine will make much of a significant difference in handling between the two cars. Can't wait until they have them in dealers to test drive the two.

Look at the bright side... it's about 100 lbs lighter than a 4 series comparably equipped.

HOLY CRAP. is that for real?? I knew the US weights would be more than the claimed Euro weights.....but that would mean the 235 is 140 pounds heavier than the 135.

I don't think so. Seeing how it says top speed is 130. Almost all the info on there is wrong LOL.

The website also mentions heads up display and other stuff that is not part of the 2 series LOL

So do you have to get leather in an m235i? I've been lurking and was looking at placing an order but I wanted Senstatec just because I felt it would last better and would be better suited to me than leather.

I don't think so. Both from the interview, and the order guide.. it seems Sensatec is NC (no charge aka STD).

But the configurator begs to differs! But then again, the 2 series website also mentions things such as heads up display

That has to be wrong, the manual is always lighter by 50 lbs even with the 3 and new 4 series. They were quoting 3,373 prior and 50/50 weight so I hope they screwed up. I'm leaning on waiting for a 228 convertible which would be the same weight as a M235 based on the previous conv weight on the 128 and what's currently quoted for the 228. I'd buy a Burger tune for $400 and get an M Sport. They would price out the same at $48,400 the way I'd spec each one so its a tough decision at this point.

I would be very careful of drawing any conclusions based on published weights until the weights have been independently tested. There are many variables, including weight of fluids which may or may not be included. This may partially explain the differences in weights between different parts of the world for nominally the same car.

Looking at the uk website and converting kgs to lbs, the M235i should be around 3400 lbs.

If leather is standard on the M235i, then BMW shouldn't be putting up a starting MSRP of $44k. That's just bs and should really aggravate its customers. If its true, its another reason to hate BMW for charging ppl ridiculous amounts for so many options.

I mean c'mon...charging ppl for "ENHANCED usb and bluetooth?" We have to pay for it to be "enhanced?" Sorry but thats just dumb now-a-days. They try to get every penny out of the customers pocket.

This 2 series is a MUCH better looking than the previous 1 series...
Maybe it's just me, but the one issue I see nowadays happening with current BMW models is that it does not create enough incentive for(already) BMW owners to change their vehicles...
The BMWs are very similar and they don't jump out...
I'm driving a 3 series...if I ever decide to replace my car down the road with a similar newer (class) car, my options are : 4 series, 2 series, & the same 3 series...to me, they are all the same, specially the interior...so what happens if one decides to have a different BMW than the one I'm driving & can't afford the 5 & 6 series?
should they be looking outside for an Audi or M-B? Isn't that killing marketshare in a way and at the same time losing existing clients prospect for BMW?
I think they should have designed some different looking styles between 3, 4, and 2... 2 might have a different story but the 3 & 4 are plain copy!
