Strange that it doesn't show up on the BYO configurator. I'm holding an F22 ordering guide in my hand, and it shows it as option "302 Anti-theft alarm system", $400 for both the 228i and the M235i.

If you want it, be sure to verify option 302 is on your order!

The greatest value in the alarm is the ability for you to hear and become alerted and informed there is an issue occurring. It's like the car has the ability to scream Stranger Danger, assuming you hear it, you are then equipped to act in the moment.

The alarm is useless against determined, professional thiefs.

The alarm may scare off teenagers, but that's not even sure.

It will make noise randomly at night, your neighbors will hate you, you will get tired of it. Nobody will care one way or another about the car being ransaked, you included.

I had one in my previous car, I had it disconnected.

I have not once in my life had a car alarm go off for no reason.

Besides if my BMW is broken into in my garage they better pray they know how to start it quickly because minus the thread part.

But as it was said above mines a Canadian car so it came with the full alarm.

+1, I had older Mercedes that developed problem caused by factory alarm. Disconnected it. My insurance does give discount for Alarm on comprehensive but aside from that more hassle than worth. Garage the car at night, is much better.
