Front PDC weird behavior?

I have a strange thing going on with my front PDC.

Firstly, the system does work, however, the front sensors do not enable on start up and driving off.
They will enable though with the manual button on the console.
I just have to remember to do it.

Additionally, if I engage reverse; front and back PDC both are enabled without manual intervention.

The dealer has looked at it twice now and tried reloading the module, but no change.

Add to this, my '21 X3 does not behave this way.
Front sensors are enabled on startup with no manual intervention required.

I'm just wondering how does front PDC behave for others????

My fronts work exactly the same (M2C). Come on by manual intervention with the button, or automatically if I select reverse.
Don’t know if that’s how they should work. On other cars I’ve always been used to them activating automatically at very low speeds as you pull up to a barrier or wall for example.

Thanks for confirming...
I have never had a car that PDC behaved this way.
My X3 and M2C are both '21 model year, so it's strange why they are different.

I wonder if it's something that can be coded?

Can confirm that this is also how my M2C behaves; I would consider it normal for the M2C. Higher end and newer models (7 series, 5 series, etc.) will have automatic activation similar to what you have on your X3, but with the 2 series being more "basic", I assuming that automatic activation was not included with any 2 series coupe (F22/23 or F87).
