no-hole front license plate holder... parking sensors
So I bought the front license plate, no-holes holder from Turner Motorsports and can't seem to install it where it doesn't counteract with the parking sensor...
Solution...? Different holder that does work? Advice on installation from someone who figured it out? Turn off the 1 sensor that it covers? (how?) |

I used the usmillworks version on my '15 and seems to work w/o issue. I can't speak to the version you're using, but the millworks one allows you to tilt the plate in a variety of angles.
A little pricey, but works great. I have it on my x3 as well.

I can't get the US Millworks to not buzz the sensors on my car. Even if it falls into a groove where the PDC doesn't see it, even the slightest bump or shift will twist it back into a position where it blocks one of the two.
If I could turn the PDC beeping off I wouldn't care, but I have not had much luck. My next thought is to take the bracket off, bend the bracket curved so that it forms to the bumper better, and then try reinstalling it.

My mount does have a slight amount of curvature outwards though. Not sure if it's from the car wash or what. I am thinking if I can remove it and bend it the opposite way (So it follows the curve of the bumper) that will help out. I also noticed when I first installed it with JUST the mount, it did not set off warnings, but it does with the plate installed because the plate sits 4-5mm outside the edges of the mount. I may just need to grab a pair of tin snips and cut the sides of the plate down. All things to do in my "Free time".

http://www.amazon.com/Bell-Automotive-22-1-46230-8-Adjustable-Mounting/dp/B0013HP98C I was eventually going to do a diy guide but just haven't had a chance, although if you Google you'll find existing diy guides for f30 vehicles. I ended up buying toggle bolts from home depot plus a couple of pieces to make it work. All in all it cost me about $30-$35 I believe. But in the end I mounted with no drilling and in the center (no side like a toe hook) and it doesn't affect any sensors. |

You really don't have the thing tightened properly then. I can yank on mine and it wont deflect more than 1-2mm before going exactly back to where it was.
